LOD is very low on Artisan Shiden with firmware 30.

It looks like the sensor is off center. That would be a deal breaker for me frown.gif That doesn't bother you guys? I'm pretty set on picking up an AM and seeing if it will beat out the xai for my gamer.

It's actually fairly centre within my grip, which makes sense as the way the mouse forces you to hold it means it doesn't put me off at all. Other mouse like the g9x were fairly unusable for me because of off centre sensors. Similarly, this also makes LOD problems stand out much more, but both mice are light and easy to pickup so it's not that bad. I have smaller hands, so YMMV.

If CM fix the spawn I'll be shouting from the rooftops, but I'm not gonna suggest anyone buy it in hopes that they do.

This is good, but it'd make more sense if they actually sold replacement feet for the thing too.

.

Whilst I defer to your judgement, other mice have been bad apparently due to reasons as small as a suspect lense. Could it be that the spawn is detective, despite being an amalgamation of good components? I'm on the "I hope it's good train" with you, I really am, but I just can't say for certain. I so hope they fix it though.

On a side note, one of my biggest gripes with the spawn is it wont track on my mantis because of the light coloured bits. Is this a problem other 3090's have? Could that be mitigated by a different lense, or the insanly bight red light being changed?

I can assure you it's not the lens as they're using the official and supported ADNS-2120-001. It's unsupported lens' that usually have tracking repercussions as a trade off for benefits such as lower lift off distance. It could be that the MCU isn't as great as its price and specs lead on to be, but I kinda doubt that as other popular cypress chips like the CY7C64215- have exceptional performance with similar sensors. IE: Deathadders.

Which firmware are you using? I assume #32 since it's the one that lowers lift off beyond a point where it doesn't even track on my desk. 30a should be closer to the vanilla firmware provided by Avago.

You see, the problem with every 20 pin Avago optical is lift off detection. Lowering this via firmware/MCU (like CM is doing) isn't really optimal for the overall tracking quality of the sensor. (It does provide people with options though)

I'm not using it at all.
  • The lift off was too high at 30a.
  • 31 was completely unusable.
  • It skipped too much at 32.

In addition to that, I'd really prefer working 800dpi/500hz and ~3m/s perfect tracking.

Just to be clear, 30a works on your mantis right? at least I hope so o_O

The 800 CPI step they currently have isn't native or interpolated down from a higher step (or so it seems). Cursor quality is beyond horrible like you said. In addition to that, polling is highly bugged and seems to be protected in a way that you can't boost the mouse from 125hz via HIDUSBF patch :[

They could interpolate down from 1800 / 2 for 900 CPI, but I'd assume they have a better solution to this, or so they say.

Too much from a consumer point of view, too little on the other side of things biggrin.gif My views on things has highly shifted over the past few months though.

Yes, to be fair 30a will track good enough if I never lift the mouse and use 1800/250. I do break 2m/s but I doubt I realistically break 3m/s when trying to aim at anything. Like I said previously, if you play high enough sens or LOD doesn't bother you, it's probably usable on 30a, but I don't consider it so for the average person.

Some questions for you:

Do tape fixes actually work, or will it lower the tracking as I presume it will?
Is the Spawn and Xornet cable easily interchangeable? Any reason I shouldn't do this?
Anywhere you can buy feet?

I've been using 250hz with FW32 on a Goliathus speed. I've considered changing my playing style to pure wrist but funny enough, the mouse shape actually works good for the lower sens playing style and I actually enjoy it granted the overall design requires time or major sensitivity adjustments to get used to

Yes, but it's going to depend how you apply the fix. You're slightly cutting LED power to the surface providing lower lift. How much speed you loose will depend on the degree of your tape.

-Thunda posted a guide around here if you wanna look at that.

- Should be. I've considered using a salmosa cord, but don't really want to spend money for replacement feet. If it don't work, you might have to change around a few wires around.

- Corepad sells PTFE feet. Unsure if they're rounded or not.

http://www.corepad.com/ Around 10 bucks for 2sets @ US resellers.
