Good camera phones? Substitute for a actual quality camera. - Page 3

Although the K790/K800 looks nice and all with all the features you'll ever need, the lens cover is rather obtrusive and actually quite flimsy.
I'd recommend getting your hands on a demo/dummy before actually buying it so you can get a feel of it.

Also, the N93 might a bit big and clunky. As for the N73, it's actually quite nice from what I've used at the Nokia store. (Nokia finally comes out with autofocus, niceee )

As for myself, I am currently using a Sony Ericsson W810i.

Well, I was just looking at some more phones and stumbled upon the Samsung D900. I think I may have found a winner here! It has quad band, so supports the 850MHz band. It has a 3MP camera with autofocus (nice!). It has a nice, sleek design, sliding down instead of flipping up. Also, it's available on ebay for $350. It seems like a really good choice. I'm going to go look at some reviews that talk specifically about the camera, then I'll check back here.

PS - NEvolution, the W810i is a great phone I'm sure, but it concentrates a little too much on the multimedia aspect of the phone. It doesn't support 850MHz and I read some reviews saying cingular coverage was poor. It's probably the best multimedia camera out there, but I'm just looking for the best camera phone. I have all my multimedia needs covered by my Zen Vision.

EDIT: Okay, wow! By the looks of these pictures, the D900 is the runaway winner between that, the K800, and the N73 in picture quality. I think I might be sold!

Yes, the Samsung D900 is quite nice.

But just to clear it up the W810 is actually quad band, so there is support for 850Mhz.

But if you're looking more towards the camera aspect, then there are definitely better options.
It's just that I'm more fond of the Sony Ericsson UI and that a lot of their current phones use the Memory Stick Pro Duo which isn't too expensive and is compatible with my PSP.
I had a Samsung before and used some of the current ones before and it's somewhat difficult to roam around the options. Though not as difficult like the Motorola's.
And those microSD's (Transflash) are quite expensive and aren't widely used in any other hardware (ie. digital cameras)

Looks like that's what you're after.

I have the Motorola i870, and it's got a 1.3MP camera...I was gonna recommend that...but 3.2MP...damn homie...lol.

Just remember somethign though....memory space is probably on a ****ty little card that is way overpriced, and it won't be a fast camera...last but not least...no optical zoom on cameras...

PS - my friend has one...it's a nice ass phone.

Damn, this is a hard choice. I've been delaying my watercooling setup for a few months now because of time restrictions and lack of vital information (involving anodizing)! I wanted to get a good camera before I started my WC work log, but I also should get a new phone. I would want a camera on me at all times, but I don't want to carry a camera and a phone. The Ericsson is the perfect thing, if only it were cheaper. I can wait for it to get cheaper, but that will delay my WC swtup even more. Maybe I'll use my sister's Cybershot for the work log and ask for the K790a for Christmas or something. Not like I'll get it, it's way too expensive a gift. I guesws I'll have to figure this one out on my own from here. Thanks for the suggestions guys.

are u looking at phone prices without a 2 year agreement, because they are significantly cheaper if you renew your contract. You said you have had your phone for a long time which means you might be able to get a upgrade for free, which could most likely take $200 or more off the price from a dealer.
