I'd say that's a pretty large piece of dust. I've bought new lenses that have some very, very light dust in them that you can see with an LED flashlight, but nothing that large. If it bugs you, ask for an exchange.

Good news amazon is sending me a new 60D and lens kit as we speak with their fastest available shipping method. Amazon is awesome.

I do find it amusing that you're recommending brands like Kata and Crumpler, when they have some of the priciest bags on the market, and their low-end models that are sub-100 dollars hold almost nothing. For someone with 1000 dollars worth of camera eqipment and likely a bike that costs as much or more, 150 dollars for a bag that will expand to fit future needs without requiring another, pricey future purchase is not entirely superfluous.

the kata 465 i had was big enough for me to fit my a200(gripped) + 18-70 kit + 70-210/4 in the lower camera compartment, and a sweatshirt in the front compartment, with plenty of room left for a bottle of water + food. I am sure you can fit a small tool kit, a tire and pump in there too. i got rid of it cause it didnt fit the telephoto + body vertical and when the a900 came...well it had trouble fitting full frame glass. and for <70 bucks i dont find kata that bad of in terms of size vs. price. crumpler on the other hand is expensive, but they do make good stuff.

i personally have 1 dedicated camera bag (lowepro 350), a pelican, a sleeve to use in messenger bags and im still looking at the dr467 kata for a day bag. i find camera bags specific "tools" for the situation, or at least that what i plan to tell my gf when i buy another bag tongue.gif

you may want to find a store with the venture instock to check it out first cause that bag is massive....

ps. i only say to get a smaller bag because its easier for me to shoot with. when you are in the city having a large camera bag makes it cumbersome to move about. but if you normally go biking with a large bag then by all means get a large bag for your camera. the important thing is that the camera is protected and you are comfortable carrying it.

only similar bag to the venture that comes to mind is the lowepro photo sport.

Dust is very common lenses, even on L lenses.

If they are in between the front elements they won't show up in your images.

You probably made the best choice and went with the 60d. For someone with no glass it's that or the D7000 ( even though i think the d7000 edges it as a stills camera just as the D5100 edges it over the rebels {you guys name them differently than us, is the T3i the 600d?} but only in stills. I figure if you wanted it for the video you'd not be buying entry level anyway )

As for bag? Just get a rugged backpack, with a frame if really needed and just chop durable foam to fit and take your gear. It's great having lowepro this and that but at the end of the day the bag does the carrying and you can cut your own interior and inserts to protect it all and save some cash.

I've sold all of my lowepro bags that i wasted money on, bar a small one that fits my D3s and a lens for quickly running out of the door. I use some backpacks given to me by Ducati ( motorcycle luggage packs ) that I modified to take my full gear. Works a treat. A bag is only as good as the strap however...
