Why not just forget all this core nonsense totally?
Just set the time limits and let the chips fall where they may. ( Pun? ) IF I can oc an Ivy Bridge to 6 Ghz and make the deadline, why should they care?
Just sayin.....

PPD/watt is the fault of the gpu manufacturer ...

they already get 100x more ppd/atom /work done so its not a very valid point...

Will be leaving feadback in the beta forum as soon as I get a new wu... they seem to have forgotten a 0 on the base points...

That is the plan for the future but it will take a while to get the code written and impliminted. VJ has already said it is the time that is important not the cores.

As a side note, we recognize that the number of cores is a somewhat crude measure for system performance. Long-term, we have some ideas on how we'd like to improve this and use better metrics. But in the near term, we are using this admittedly imperfect metric

That part is intriguing to me. I would like to see a move away from the core based qualifier and to a more actual performance based measurement for WU distribution.

I would be really surprised/actually let down if 2500Ks are still able to complete these WUs.

Kinda the point behind the whole corehack method, and to be honest, why PG haven't gone after it. They know themselves that core count is a poor limitation, but don't have the resources to have a benchmark-based qualifier instead.
