Rampage IV test without processor?

So I have my entire build done EXCEPT the 3930k.

I've heard that you can start the Rampage IV without anything but power to flash the BIOS.

Would it be okay for me to power up the Rampage IV with everything on it to test everything... As in could I get to the Bios settings without the processor?

I just want to make sure everything works and that I will have everything working once I put that 3930k into it. smile.gif

Give it a shot, wouldn't really matter. From my experience without cpu, it usually doesn't post. You wouldn't harm anything in trying. Worst case scenario, clear cmos and install processor when it arrives.

Start button lit up. Hit it and nothing happened. No post. No nothing. Just an LED on the Clear CMOS button
Oh well it was worth trying lol

try the instructions on how to flash it, the thing is you need a processor to run anything on a motherboard, but the R4E has EC which is a type of firmware that allows for override of the boot such as in cold boot situations and allows to flash the BIOS without the system needing to POST.

You need a CPU installed to turn it on at all.
