Is my board TRI-SLI compatible?

I currently have an asus p8p67 ws:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=13-131-714&SortField=0&SummaryType=1&Pagesize=10&PurchaseMark=&SelectedRating=1&VideoOnlyMark=False&VendorMark=&IsFeedbackTab=true&SelectedRating1=1&Keywords=%28keywords%29&Page=1#scrollFullInfo

I am running a corsair ax850 and 2 x MSI twin frozr 6870's.

I run 3 monitors. This means that one of my GPU's has 2 monitors on it. For some reason with 2 monitors the cards fans run twice as fast, and even at this speed run 10 celsius hotter.

Instead of a memory clock of 150 the clock is 1050. Instead of a core clock at 100 it is at 300. Minimum. This is causing the heat. At 0% gpu usage....

I need silence when my cards are idling...

So I am looking towards TRI-SLI.

Can my board run this?

Will I need a new power supply?

This is ideal for NVIDIA SLI and AMD CrossFireX, as the new motherboard can easily handle 2-way SLI in dual PCI Express X16, 3-way SLI in dual X8 and one X16 link, and 4-way CrossFireX in quad X8 links.

Not sure about the PSU, but looks like you're good on the board.
Adding another card is just going to generate more heat inside your case, you really want to buy one just to lower temps? Or also for performance?

your mobo should be able to do it. and about your power supply it depends in what you are going to be running

Just for temps. Well, silence. I don't need the performance because I already have a lot of power but I do very intensive video editing. After effects, vegas, premier pro etc. No gaming.

I know it will add more heat, but probably less than I have now...

Also, I have excellent cooling - but I am worried about stacking the cards next to eachother - as they have 2pci slots inbetween them at the moment - and they dont cool through the rear of the card - the fans are on top.

if the case that you are using in the Silvestone RV-02 then you will get good temps on the bottom card. for the top card i would try to put a aftermarket cooling on that one. if there is room you could put in a low profile mounting kit and maybe water cooling. beacuse if you keep your temps down the noise will be less.

wait, can you even trifire 6870s? I only see one crossfire connector on the MSI variant.

I don't even need to crossfire them...I just need them to run a monitor each...

I don't think adding another card will help with the heat issue, it would just make the top two cards run hotter at idle. You should look into water cooling.

If you don't need crossfire, then why don't you buy a cheap card like the HD6450?
