Best Graphics in PC Gaming? - Page 4

Call of Duty should not be mentioned in a discussion about graphics.....unless the discussion is bad graphical games.

1. Max Payne 3 (very nice DX11 graphics, maybe the best looking game to date)
2. The Witcher 2 (can't run this on maximum graphics even on GTX 680 and with 2 of them in SLI just barely)
3. Battlefield 3( very good graphics for multiplayer game)

I need some more demanding and stunning games to test, any recommendations?

Fallout New Vegas with mods.

If you own NV and haven't modded it then you should. Play the game the way it was meant to be played.

Skyrim is obviously a very good looking game, as were the Crysis games. I have to throw in BF3 there, I recently started playing it and the visuals are great.

I still think the most visually stunning game I ever played was Assassin's Creed though (and the whole series just looks better and better). The lighting, the buildings, the outfits... that game looked Uh-MAAAAZINg.

It was the first game I ever played that truly made me sit up on top of a building and just go "whooooooooooooaaaa....." and then jump off into a haybail 400 feet below Goooooood looking game.

Well, the issue here is defining graphics. Do we count art direction, or just technical stuff?

Im horrible at judging art direction, or even making my mind up on it, so I'll go by technical (i.e. tech features, stats, things we can measure).

1. Crysis 2
- As much as I hate to say it, CE3 has the best tech out right now. Unlike BF3, it actually USES the tech to its advantage, and does so quite well. I honestly never noticed tessellation even once in BF3.

2. Metro 2033
- The 4A engine is impressive. Its a bit older than CE3, so lacks radiosity and so on, but it makes up for it elsewhere. While the art department really let it down in the outdoor environments, its indoor scenes are amazing.

3. Battlefield 3
- Its a solid game. It looks good, offers a fair bit of tech, but fails to use it well. While tech is great and all, its only useful if its actually used.

4. STALKER Call of Pripyat
- Again, its a solid engine, with a very solid game on top of it. While it misses a ton in some areas (i.e. proper use of tessellation) it makes up for it elsewhere (particles, AI, lighting).

5. Crysis (with mods)
- This had to be on the list. It looks good by itself, and with mods its does look better than anything on this list. If it were somehow ported in its entirety to CE 3.4, it would be easily the best looking game. However, its basically stuck with DX9 (DX10 REALLY didn't add anything).

Ok here is my little bit, I don't agree with anyone saying Alan wake, I have played it on max and it looks like a console game, really terrible. Crysis one is still pretty epic if you can get it to run with all its copyright BS. I own BF3 but don't have a GPU good enough to run it but from what I have seen it looks epic. Metro 2033 also looks great.

To those that have said FONV with mods, what mods and where did you get them? I have been running the HD texture packs and it looks the same to me.
