I am needing a new MB but don't have the cash to upgrade CPU & RAM. How is this ? Are there really any others still on the new market that will run my CPU?

Also this board will accept AM3 CPU right, then I could upgrade RAM? Not real sure of the difference between AM3 & AM3+

The A770DE+ is a significant downgrade from the M3A79-T Deluxe in that it is not very overclocking-suited due to a much lower end VRM setup, though it'll run your setup with stock speed operation just fine.  I'm pretty sure it does accept AM3 CPU, apply any BIOS updates if necessary.

At this point I'm not as worried about OC'ing as I am stability as I am seeming to have an issue with my current MB and just wanting to make SURE that it will work. Does anybody know of any other cheap boards that are still available new?

your M3A79-T Deluxe motherboard supports AM3 cpu right from Athlon II X2 to X4 and Phenom II X2 to X6 i would yet suggest u to upgrade to a decent motherboard around 150$ or 100$ as for RAM theses are the best i have seen at its price SAMSUNG 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 48$ dont go by it looks buddy it a monster u overclock it AM3+ socket supports Bulldozer series processor i.e. the FX4100,FX6100,FX 8xxx a AM3+ cannot fit AM3 cpu in a AM3 socket (as far as i know rolleyes.gif) and if u are staying with your current motherboard then get another pair of dominator 1066 mhz RAM thumb.gif
lastly whats your budget ??? dont tell us as cheap as possible pls give a approx atleast biggrin.gif

I was just curious about the board I am looking at supporting AM3 CPU because I currently have AM2+ CPU & need to make sure the board I get supports it first & foremost. At this point my comp is not reliable & I am pretty positive after testing PSU, RAM & HD that my issue is MB related. Thank you for your advice on RAM. Would I notice a difference on everyday usage or moderate gaming going from 4GB RAM to 8?

firstly u have a bit old config so going with a couple if 1066Mhz ddr2 is more futureproof if u are not planing to upgrade ur system very soon rolleyes.gif and yes it does effect moderately but mainly it depends on the user what sort of applications and games is he/she playing for BF3 4gb on DDR3 RAM is the minimum you need to have 8GB is recommended so u see that as newer programs/games come the utility of resource go higher
are u aiming to buy only a new motherboard which supports ur current CPU ??? then go for a AM3 socket motherboard because a AM3+ will not support AM2 socket CPU
or u can go with a good quality motherboard and go with a ATHLON II X3 series cpu thumb.gif
The main Problem is that a AM2+ CPUs does not support DDR3 RAM because it has only DDR2 memory controller on chip frown.gif so even if u upgrade to a new motherboard it has to be a DDR2 memory motherboard
here this is the best thing u can do right now
ASRock 970 EXTREME4 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS 109.99$
AMD Athlon II X3 455 Rana 3.3GHz 79.99$
and a SAMSUNG 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 5.99$
and if u dont mind spending 50$ extra then a AMD Phenom II X4 960T Zosma 3.0GHz Socket AM3 95W Quad-Core 124.99$ there are 90% chances of that cpu getting unlocked to a hex thumb.gif
so u got to spend around 220$(keeping Athlon II x3 in mind) rather then 80$ on a decent AM2+ motherboard and 80$ DDR2 Ram its ur choice

redface.gif too much of money to spend redface.gif

what you need to look at is a AM3 board and getting into ddr3 board your pheonm II 920 will work on that board and the am3 boards are comming down in price now that the AM3+ boards are out and you can get alot more ddr3 ram them you can with ddr2 for the same money

so this "AMD Phenom II X4 920 2.8GHz Socket AM2+ 125W Quad-Core Processor" will work on a AM3 board & with DDR3 RAM? I thought it wouldn't work with the DDR3 RAM
