Well processor has arrived. Should I go ahead and put the oem heatsink on and go through a quick boot to make sure everything is working ok before I put the hyper 212+ on it and start really setting it up, etc?

If you haven't by now, I don't think there is any point to waiting for putting on after market cooling. Both my brother and I slapped on our h50's the day we got each of ours. I've got the stock cooler sitting in my closet with the pre-applied paste still on it. It's worthless as far as I cares. I guess emergency backup HS if my h50 dies or something. Otherwise would make a unique paperweight. tongue.gif

I went ahead and put the stock on it. I was to lazy to remove the one off my other system because I was going to need one on it anyways, plus I got a H70 coming in a few days for the i5. So I'll just wait to oc it til then when the H70 is on it.

I actually tried to put my 212+ heatsink on, it's hitting the heatsinks on the board so I'm going to have to use the stock til the h70 comes in. Oh well, pictures when it's together and all nicely cable managed.

Call Microsoft and tell them that you have a new motherboard and processor. Tell them you want to switch over. They will give you a key to type in to override the activation. If they need a reason, say that the old computer died or something. That is of course if windows activation gives you problems and I think it will.

And I would reformat. You don't want drivers from the old computer to be 'running' on the new one. You can remove them but it can be a big pain and it's easier to format at once.

I clicked on activate now and it went through no problems at all o.O. At least I didn't have to call Microsoft about it.

BTW, I have it hooked up all ghettoy right now to see if anything was damaged during shipping and all seems to run smooth. Took pics, will update later.

I've had good luck with G.Skill. My other set is G.Skill, and they don't look half bad either. I'm backing up everything right now before I tear it all down to actually properly cable manage it, except for the processor. Think it'll be hard to install an H70 while it's inside the case or what?

Thinking of running the cables on the backside of the case and having it so I can just unhook them from the motherboard itself to take it out and install the new heatsink.

Video recording goes off your CPU and GPU right? You think I'd have any issues recording while gaming with this system?

Pictures Incoming!
