Building my first PC - Page 2

Canadian Resident. Would rather buy it Canadian apparently I'd get the stuff quicker & I wouldn't get the brokerage fee like I did with UPS from ibuypower... I dunno still don't really understand why I had to pay 500$ when the PC was gonna get to my door when I had already paid 109$ for shipping 2920$ for the PC...

Alright, Single card solution. Got all my pricing from Directcanada.com; bought from them many times, initial shipping is 2-3 days... that's the only bummer with them

700

That XFX I would change for an Asus when they get them in stock. Then again I don't know much about ATI cards (nVidia fanboi checkin' in). But I figured with the Maximus, you might as well color match so the inside looks good. And just to get a price range I put in one of equvilant price.

I put an 850w PSU in case you ever wanted to Xfire them. I would however keep shopping for something in Seasonic, Enermax (they have black and red) PSU's to see if you can get something between 750 and 1000w that matches the color of the GFX and mobo.

The FT02 is an awesome case and comes with all the fans you need already in it. No hassel!

SSD and 2 TB HDD should have you covered for critical apps and some storage overhead.

The H80 fits the FT02 but an H100 wouldn't, and since we are in Canada, the Silver arrow is hard to get. This also gives you room to OC the 2700K

2700K, Overkill, but then again nothing like the 3960X you were going to buy.

TOTAL with taxes and delivery: $2,431.12 CAD with no brokerage or hidden fees. thumb.gif

It's also something that'll be mildly future proof. But once you build your own, you'll want more... it's just that way. So in 2 or three years you'll want a new CPU mobo, ram and GFX card anyhow... =P

Tell me what you think.

You need to pay Canadian taxes when importing something from the states. UPS also charges you a type of administration fees for doing it in your stead. That's where they kill you. Figuratively speaking, say you're in Quebec (Popaul might have given it away) then you should have looked at (2920*1.14975)-2920= 437$ in extra taxes to clear customs.

If you can, always buy within Canada, no matter how good the deal looks!

I have noticed that things bought in Europe don't go through as much scrutiny as the stuff from the states. I go my mayhems stuff, aquatuning stuff with out even the slightest extra charge... dunno why though.

That hurt Rog tongue.gif Quebec :O What an insult! tongue.gif New-Brunswick actually. wink.gif
The charges only occur when you're Canadian buying something in the USA... if it would of went from China - USA then to Canada I wouldn't of had to pay that 400$ ish bucks... Atleast from little I've found out.

Hrmm, you want to go 3d from nVidia, or regular 2d?

Might have to change the video card if you do... and a 24'' 120hz screen is in the 400$ range on newegg...

BenQ on Newegg.ca =419.99. This supports 3d vision from Nvidia. If you do choose to have 3d, then you need to change the XFX 7970 to a GTX 580 3Gb card.

This GTX 580 was dipped in awesome sauce. It'll support 3d vision from nVidia for the 120hz screen I linked.

Total should still be under 3k delivered with taxes.

Sure, but newegg.ca is always more expensive than memory Express, NCIX or Directcanada. Unless they have a sale on...
