Sounds good man, you're entitled to your opinion. OP, don't believe everything that you red.

PS: My CPU runs at 10c idle and 40c load with 4.8Ghz 1.464v. Around 30db, but I also have three 580's on the loop. My ambient is between 19 and 22c. I'd like to see what results you get with a DH-14 so we can compare.

Why don't you stop telling him what he should listen to and let him decide for himself? Rude man...

My beef is with you not him at the moment... You openly stated that a DH-14 is better than a custom loop. I'd like to see your facts to support the suggestion YOU made to the OP.

Ball is in your camp bud.

Here is your fact!

In both noise and performance, the D14 is superior.

Ohhh, so it's a misunderstanding. The Corsair series of Hydro coolers are not a "Custom loop". It's an all in one solution or "AIO" liquid cooler. A custom loop is a whole different beast all together. Which btw you can get an awesome RASA kit for about 30$ more and it will out perform a DH-14.

But yeah, don't say custom loop when you refer to Antec or Corsairs aoi solutions, you'll ruffle some feathers (like what just happend with me). thumb.gif

But doesn't that depend on what OC you are planning on?

It could also depend on what chip you are using... but no, not a necessity to have OC's, maybe someone wants very low noise. That can easily be achieved with a water cooling system, even with OC's. Something air cooling will have great difficulties doing. Granted the Noctua coolers are some of the best in the industry they don't compare to a custom loop. But you're right that a DH-14 beats out an H80, though not the H100.

Consider a RASA kit , it will out do any air coolers period. And the price is very very reasonable. It's like an intro to "custom" loops if you will.

The H80 with 2x GT AP15's is not only great performing it isn't very loud. It also IMO lets you concentrate on more important airflow through the rest of the case.

I also chose the 2700k over the 2500k because it's a better binned chip and will OC higher at lesser vcore thus enabling the H80 cooler to be more than feasible for cooling. And hyperthreading is starting to hit games now right? wink.gif

Plus he has $3000 to blow. That system will probably only cost £1000 max over here in the UK.

I'm not against air-coolers as such but I side with either a full custom loop or a pre-build Corsair water cooler. Again my opinion but no doubt many will agree with me here.
