odd question about case lighting

Thread Starter
hey guys, I'm swapping cases soon, and was wondering, if I got some of that silver looking duct tape ( not regular grey, but the shiney stuff ) or some small mirrors, etc...

and mounted them in the case to help the case seem "brighter" with less lights

let me know what you guys think?

It would reflect the light source, but it also depends on the source you have, if you only use a single LED it will be more of a point source than a light, with would give it more of a singular reflection and not a nice glow. The best thing that you may want to do is find a color your would like, I used red. I went on amazon and found 12V red LED strips. It came with 4 13" strips with a sticky backing. You just strip the cables and use a molex to fan connector. Use the 12V power and the ground to power the LED's and then you just stick them in the case. Cost me about $8 and 30 min of work

Instead of shiny tape, consider using white card to give a more diffused glow.

Something else that could be fun would be Acrylic Light Tube, it works on the principles that light reflects at the same angle inside the acrylic. This give a really cool glow effect with the need of only 1 or 2 LED's Its not super cheap but its pretty sweet!

Using mirror acrylic to reflect an LED light strip works a lot better. It allows you to really brighten up the lighting.

You can then use acrylic to diffuse the light and create a VERY bright glow.

Here's an example of modded 5.25" drive bays
