I think you can still go ahead and it might work. As you have all the hardware, just try it out. No harm to try.
But even if it works, the quality will be inferior to newer TVs that support HDMI 1.4. IIRC, 1.4 has full 3D support while 1.3 has limited/partial support.
See this excerpt from the FAQ link above.
Q: How will 3D gaming work over HDMI and 3D TVs? Will there be a mode with 720p or is it not possible to play games on 3D TVs?
A: We support the HDMI 1.4a packed frame format to support stereo 3D at 1080p 24hz/eye, 720p 60hz/eye. This is the standard way of supporting the new breed of 3D TVs that support HDMI1.4a. For best performance, we of course recommend 720p 60Hz/eye (or 120Hz effective). Please note that you will still need middleware for gaming. We have worked with DDD and iZ3D to implement gaming over HDMI1.4a to work on new 3D TVs. There are also older 3D TVs (DLP based) that we support using middleware, but we believe that the quality is inferior to the new TVs (resolution is reduced). To enable HDMI 1.4a on AMD Radeon™ HD 5000 and HD 6000 series products, AMD Catalyst™ 10.10 (and later) is required.
If possible, better to use an 1.4a cable to increase the chance of success.
