Why The Sudden run On i5 2500K's ?

Thread Starter
I live close to a Microcenter and buy all my CPU's there. I needed a 2500K a few days ago and they were out of stock. I watched on line to see when my local store got more.
Anyway within the last week they re-stocked with 10+ and sold out twice ! you could literally watch them fly out the door on line. Even today they had 10+ this morning so I figured I had time to grab one tonight. Well I got one and they only had three left.
Is there some reason for the sudden upsurge in 2500k/2600k sales ? I notice Newegg is frequently out of stock lately also.

honestly it's pretty simple. they're simply the best bang for buck out there now.

they're considered mainstream and are perfect for the everyday gamer.

I've noticed that as well, it why I didn't get one, because everyone has one.
Also easy peasy to overclock.

I noticed the same thing too for a while while I was trying to get my dad to upgrade. Then finally i broke down and got a 2600k the other week, because my 1156 motherboard took a dump and noone sells anything to replace it with. But simply put they're fast affordable chips (got mine from MC for $229.00 AC).

It's not sudden, everyone and their brother has one.

That's why I don't have one.

I think people were holding off to see what AMD brought to the table with bulldozer and now that they realise that bulldozer didn't live up to the hype, they are making their decision to go Intel. The 2500k is the best bang for buck.

Rubbish.......That's like saying too many people have red hair!

People have bought them because they are exactly what most people have mentioned on here - Best bang for your buck chips on the market!

If you can't see that.......good luck to you!
