[Build Log] CaseLabs STH10 BOINC Cruncher 2012 - Page 25

I completed the MB facing part of one set of GPU power cables. Here is a close-up:

Notice the difference between the sewing methods. I like the Frank N. Stein method better (the one on the top GPU).

Here is a wide view of the MB section:

The Frank N. Stein method is used on the CPU power, MB power (to the upper left side), and the top GPU power. The simple "over-N-under" method is used on the 24-pin cable, bottom GPU, and the SATA power cables. Those will get redone.

So, the one set of 6-pin GPU power cables currently has 9 sewn lines. It took me about 2.5 hours to complete that. I still have to sew the part that is on the back side of the MB section.

I think the Frank N. Stein method of sewing cables looks and feels great. It just takes time...

Cheers,

Perfection takes time. Looks ultra clean....great job Pongo!thumb.gif

How much of a pain was it to fit the PSU up there with the radiator? Did you put in all the power cables and then put in the radiator?

I'm having a hell of a time trying to get the power cables in there with the radiator mounted first. redface.gif

I am having the same space issues with my PSU connectosr. I did install both rads in the top first and then both PSUs. Then I wired everything and it is very cramped between the PSU connectors and the rads.

Once I sleeve, sew, and route all the power cables I intend to remove the two rads in the top chamber and finalize the cable routing in the top chamber up to the PSU connectors.

The STH10 is a huge case. But, if I had it to do over I would consider using two 240 rads instead of two 360 rads in the top chamber when using large PSUs like the AX1200.

Cheers,

Hah I don't blame you. I had to remove my 360 radiator just to fit the cables in there.

I would honestly LOVE to sew my cables like you but I don't have the time to dedicate to that. I also don't know how to solder and don't have the time to learn that either, regardless of how easy it may be. frown.gif My SATA and Molex power cables don't even reach my PSU so I needed to buy some extensions so I'm planning on just hiding the backside but man that looks nice. I'd pay you to do mine! biggrin.gif

Thanks.   And you could not pay me enough to sew cables for someone else's rig biggrin.gif   I'll be doing good if I finish the sewing for my rig!

Your build is looking amazing...

I had the same issues with the space between the radiators and the PSUs. I had to remove the radiatoors to hook up all the cables. Everything fits, but it is a tight fit.

Thanks, asg.

I am currently sewing the 24-pin ATX power cable. I will post pics and a final count of the many hours it took. I hope to finish it sometime this weekend. Stay tuned...
