Hi all,
Have to say I LOVE the new look of the forums!
I have not been here for some time now as I do not have time, but I have to admit it: This is awesome!
Anyways, I am looking for a new gaming monitor. I play FSP, RPGs, and waiting for a new Guild Wars 2 MMO. I have been using Apple Thunderbolt at work and I have to say I love it. The only problem is that it is 27-inch (as well as it is 12ms) and I am more set for 23-24-inch. So I need some help with a new monitor. I have done a heavy research regarding what I want, but it seems like I am not able to get exactly what I want.
OK! Here are the specs that I am interested in:
23 or 24 inch (Max) - Do not like big monitors plus I do not have a room.
IPS - This is a must for me as I am all about picture quality.
HDMI (Preferred) or DVI - Love HD!
1080p - 1920x1080 and NOT 1920x1200 (Oh and I heard that 1920x1200 is not good for games and movies). If this is NOT true, then I am OK with that as long as games and movies will look good in that resolution and NOT stretched or something (same thing apply if a game does not support it and I have to use x1080).
Glossy - I find this much better and richer than a mat display. Besides, my room is somewhat on a dark-ish side anyways. If you guys think I can get that glossy/shiny look in mat then so be it!
6ms - This is a max I am willing to go, but prefer lower (much lower) for my FPS.
Contrast Ratio, Brightness, and ANY other small feature (important or not) does not matter to me as long as it will NOT mess up my ultimate goal or expectations from given monitor.
As of $$$ - I really do NOT care as long as it's NOT overpriced/"not worth it" the money to justify the difference.
I hope you guys understand what I am looking for. If you have any questions please let me know.
If you guys could help me out with this I would really appreciate it! I found Asus PA238Q and PA246Q, but both are not glossy. In addition, PA246Q is 1920x1200. I also came along some Dell, HP, BanQ and some other brands, but I really do NOT know who is good and who can be trusted. I am Samsung guy, but that does not mean I have to go with Samsung.
Thank you!
P.S. I will add a poll here to see how many people will vote Mat vs Glossy. Now keep in mind what I am after. Of course, this is going to be your opinion on it, but please focus on PURE picture quality and keep in mind FPS gaming monitor.
