Koolance PMP400 heatsink 56k Warning

Thread Starter
I have asked questions about this product, and finaly dicided to just get one, and share my experiences. Here goes:
The package:
450
The contents:
450
The heatsink:
450

other side:
450
as I suspected a 60mm fan mounts perfectly:
450
the housing is a two piece deal:
450
450450
and compared to a DDC1T housing:
450
notice the wire hole is much bigger.
450
450
Ok, assembly:
450
at this point I encountered these "flaps" which prevented me putting the pump in, no worries - I bent them in:
450
450
ummmmmmmm........
450
turns out these screws protrude about a milimiter, so I'll losen them a bit...
450
Still doesn't fit.. Im starting to wonder if Koolance produced their pumps a bit smaller, Or if the DDC1T is a bit bigger? Or am I a complete idiot that missed something completely obvious? I was really exited to do a review, but it turns out I still end up asking a bunch of questions. lol
sugestions? answers?

You're doing it wrong, somehow. I've installed 3 of those and they work awesome.

Take the screw stand things out. Slide the pump into the housing, then put the screw stands in. Pump only goes in one way. Don't put the bottom plate on until the pump is in!

You have one of them 35 buck cheapo pumps? Also, have you tried prying the housing wider?

Ok I double checked, current pumps, like the real Swiftech MCP350 do not have a plastic housing over the pump like those cheapo DDC1's. Get a different pump or use Swiftech's heatsink?

Brainstorm, just dremel the plastic sides off the DD1.

tipo, the "Early" Laing DDC will not fit, only the later Laing's having visible green color field laminations (on 2 sides) are suitable

I have actually tried both & noticed same contact points as you

for example you need swiftech mcp 350 OR mcp 355 OR mcp35x as presently sold, or koolance 400 as presently sold to bew certain of fitting correctly

this ddc heatsink/metal shell works v. well

tsm106, two items, first, I apply tim to the (2) flat field laminations that contact "inside" of pmp400 metal shell & second, I use M4 flat head hex socket screws (cover screws) as the head recesses slightly into bottom plate allowing heatsink to directly seat onto "bottom plate" & tim to increase heat transfer - the supplied phillips head/flat head screws slightly stand up above "bottom plate" surface

this workstation often runs 24/7 unattended

have ordered the dual top plate, will rec in hk in about 3 wks

Grab a beer, its dremel time. This might not work cuz the DD1 pcb is full size and the others are not full size.
