First Gaming PC build

Thread Starter
This is my first gaming computer build. I haven't purchased anything yet. I would like some critiques and hear some opinions before I do. I play battlefield on 360, but now I want to max it out on ultra settings and continue my gaming to PC.

Intel Core i5-2500K
ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3
XFX HD-697A-CNFC Radeon HD 6970 2GB 256-bit
COOLMAX CL-700B 700W ATX 12V v2.2
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
Western Digital Caviar Blue WD5000AAKX 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5"
LITE-ON DVD Burner - Bulk Black SATA Model iHAS124-04 - OEM
Logitech G9x Black Two modes scroll USB Wired Laser Gaming Mouse
Microsoft SIDEWINDER X4 Keyboard
Rosewill DESTROYER Black Gaming ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

If anyone is aware of compatiblity issues I'm missing that would be great to know. Also, if anyone can see where I might be able to cut some corners and save money to get my build below $900 I would really appreciate it. Like I said, I would like to play BF3 on the highest settings for my budget of $800- $1000. I'm up for any suggestions. Thanks for the help!

looks good, except i don't like that power supple.
alos, for such a low budget i would drop the 6970 to a 6950 and upgrade some other stuff.

Looks fine to me. Maybe you could get a better mouse like the Mionix Naos which is cheaper too.

For gaming, the gpu is the most important thing so it's not really something to cheap out on on a build with this kind of budget.

This is a great looking build, but that other guy is right, if you can get a HD 6950 i little cheaper than a HD 6970, its great, and they can generally be overclocked to stock HD 6970 settings anyway.

I've never heard or seen that power supply, just remember, DO NOT skimp out on the power supply, i done that once, it blew up and fried my Graphics card with, a total of $400.00 down the drain.

This is an Antec High Current Pro series power supply. They are great, they are reliable, have lots of good reviews, and I'm using the 750W one myself and its awesome.

It is also cheaper, and even though it's only 620W, it will easily run this system with even a HD 6970 in it smile.gif

Hope this sort of helps.

a 6950 isn't cheeping out. My friend has a 6850 and runs medium settings 60 FPS fraps on.

Not exactly a good idea to cheap out on a case.... i would say get like a corsair 400r or rose will.

NEVER, I mean NEVER skimp on a PSU. Get a Corsair, seasonic, or antec psu. If the PSU blows most of the time the whole system blows also.
