First Gaming PC build - Page 2

You might wanna try for a significantly cheaper 6950 with an aftermarket cooler, such as this 6950 twin frozr ii.

In my experience, the reference cooler on the 6970 is utter crap.

Check out this review at hardware canucks. As you can see, the MSI Twin Frozer ii cooler is massively cooler than reference.

If you are worried about its capability vs the 6970, OC the crap out of the card, and you should get near 6970 performance, and I bet it'll still be cooler. Best of all, the twin frozr ii is $70 cheaper.

edit: whoops, that is a review for the twin frozr iii, not ii. It's still about the same, I think.

What do you guys see in the power supply you don't like? Not that I'm doubting, I just want to learn from you guys.

the people who make it, its a off brand go with one of the better brands / Seasonic / Corsair/Antec/NZXT if you ever fry everything in your case you will never settle wasting 1000.00 to save 20.00 isn't worth it

The PSU you have chosen just doesn't cost enough, and it isn't a brand that I know very well. That spells cheap parts, which means that it's gonna die in 6-12 months, possibly. Do yourself a favor and don't cheap out on the PSU. Get a 650w or 750w corsair.

Regarding PSU I would grab a Rosewill Capstone 650w 80+ Gold; great deal for the performance and it's a very reliable psu.

If you get a MSI Twin Frozr III 6950 2gb it has a 99% chance to unlock to a 6970 plus it has a great cooler.

There may not be anything wrong with that PSU, it just isn't a known brand, I had a Chinese power supply once, and it blew up within the first few days and fried my GPU with it.

And remember, you can get a Power supply from a known company, like Corsair, Antec, Cooler Master etc. for the same price, just much better quality.

It's not even 80+ ceritified; Sounds like Diablotek or in other words expect it to explode and take out all your parts with it.
