Build my friend a PC! 3200$ budget.

Thread Starter
My buddy wants to build a nice PC and I was wondering if you all could point him in the right direction.
He is going to use it primarily for video and photo editing and gaming eventually.
The budget should include the entire desktop
Tower
Monitor (preferably dual monitors at least 27")
Keyboard
Mouse
His budget is roughly 3200
Thanks in advance!

Wait 2 months for ivy bridge and Kepler

I mean, if that's a valid answer then go for that from JMattes. In reality though if he's not going to wait two whole months because we should never really wait for the hardware to come out...Is there any specific hardware he would like? Intel/Nvidia or AMD/ATI? I did a build for photo editing/video editing/ 3D modeling last year and it can handle anything I throw at it. The specs are below. It cost around $2600. Usually people would say to limit the amount spent unless it's for a 100% particular reason. To be honest the $3200 mark is high for even a high end computer. I think he could save some of his money for future upgrades or other things.

It's hard to say now, he could either go with LGA 2011 or stay with the 2600k. Maybe I am outdated if I recommend the 2600k still but it has proven to be reliable. I would steer you in the direction of Intel/NVidia just because that's what I use and I'm not as knowledgeable with AMD. Anyway, let us know which manufacturers so we can help you better.

Yea sorry lol..

2600k CPU (2700k if he may want to OC for a chance at a better OC)
Asus Mother Board (I like my P8P67 Gen 3) - Ivy Bridge Ready
Seasonic 850w PSU
2x GTX 580 (In SLI)
8gb of Ripjaw RAM 1600mhz-2133mhz (I like 2133 for folding but 1600 has better timings)
Case is all about appreance.. Your call (NZXT & Antec are good)
Corsair H100 for nice compact cooler or Silver Arrow for Air..
WaterCooling Loop if he really wants to blow money!

Razor Mouse and Keyboard? Not my area

I love love love Samsung Monitors.. Get 3x 23" Samsung LED
or 27" if you want lol

I think he will be under budget..

Just my 2 cents

My spec "Mammoth" is about $1700 alone. So you have, $1500 left for mouse, keyboard and 2 screens.

Even less if you don't plan to get high end GPU ($600). Get one like $300. So it will set you back $300 to save up for x2 27" monitors.

HD 78XX series are coming out this month. They are $300-$350 range cards.

Besides all the questions from JMattes....

Is he interested in 3D monitors?
What about watercooling?
