They are made very well and the ear pads are amazing. I think the mids, highs, and lows are all where they should be. I really believe you would be happier with them over the A700s and AD700s. I was super excited about picking up the A/AD700s and was extremely dissapointed after listening to them.
I do not think you would regret the purchase at all.

You have provided me with a solid OCN review of your experience with the 700's. I have been swayed and will be purchasing the Beyerdynamic DT770 PRO. If you could link me to the correct set from online I shall be purchasing them at 2am when my direct deposit gives me my money. thumb.gif

they also have a 250 ohm version but they are harder to drive and from what I have heard do not produce as much bass. I have done extensive reading and many people seem to think the 80 ohm is the way to go. this is what I have and could not be happier. I think you will really enjoy them with the music you listen to. They are great for gaming as well thumb.gif

There are Sennheisers as well, but most of them are open, which may not be the best for your type of music. I have the HD555s and while they do have bass, it's not as punchy or strong, especially for dubstep/electronic music, but sounds great for jazz. They still deliver quite a bit of bass though, just not as pronounced as closed-type headphones would. I've actually taken my HD555s out to the bus/lightrail/classes and if you can keep a low enough volume, people won't really hear it.

Open types are really good for sound stage and positioning though, so they are wonderful in gaming. There have been times where a sudden sound in a song or in a video would make me jump cause I thought someone or something made a noise right over my shoulders and I'm not the type to get easily surprised either.

Get Ultrasone 550s. The bass on them are better imo than the beyer.

@rat: Hey I have a pair of gel headphone pads for the dt770s that I never used if you're interested.

Thank you for the offer, but if I dont use the cups that come with it my ears will get very hot if they are not able to breathe.

Good luck with the 770 Pro 80's.
I have owned a pair for 3 years or so and I have been very happy with them.
Excellent sound-stage, with crisp highs and good bass extension.
For under 200 you really cannot go wrong.

Open style cans like the AD 700's are excellent as well, but give a very different presentation due to their open nature.
Less bass, with a more pronounced mid-range.
Just different strokes for different folks and I prefer closed cans.
