After installing my HDD, Windows keeps picking the lone drive as a RAID 0 volume in the disk manager (UEFI BIOS sees the 250GB drive with no problems). However if I try to format it, it tells me, "The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error."
The drive works because it was pulled from another system. I'm thinking it might have to do with my Windows setting?
Check to make sure that the BIOS is flagged as AHCI mode and not RAID mode in the Advanced/SATA configuration settings of the BIOS.
Check to make sure that hotplugging is disabled.
However, it's more likely to be something left over on the HDD from the other system and you may need to do a full format of it at the boot level rather than from within the OS.
