What smartphone should i get?

Hi, my phone, which i have had for 2 years) is a POS, the battery and back a extremely poorly designed in a way that taking the back off with eventually rub away the plastic on the battery. Anyway, im going to the telsta shop (Australian carrier) to get a phone tomorrow after school. I am on a $59 or $79 plan (i forget) but i am wanting to stay with it. I dont know if i want a 4s or some sort of android phone. I will be using it for browsing the interwebs, Skype and emails, games and some music and podcasts. I run a online shop so i need skype to contact my supplier and emails to see sales. I am leaning towards an iphone because of the podcast / music because i hate connecting them to my computer and i know that iphones work and that i know how to use them BUT i am leaning towards android because i like to learn new OS's (even mobile) and there are alot more good free apps as well as, if i were to start developing apps for it (where there is no chance for the iphone) i could test them on an actual device.

What do you think and if android can you recommend a model?

I would say the Samsung Galaxy S2. I own one(skyrocket) and I love it. Compaired to the IPhone 3gs I had, it's alot faster and the screens a lot bigger. Both my parents got the IPhone 4s and are very jealous of how large the screen actually is. I would also look at the Samsung Note if you want a really large phone.

Android- Atrix, Nexus, Evo, Epic 4G, Galaxy 2, Razr and HTC Rezound are all very good phones you should look at.

I just got a Nexus and it's amazing! Had tried a Galaxy SII, and they're pretty good too just more bloated with Samsung's own OS. The Nexus is blazing fast, comfortable to hold, good battery life (thus far, one week of use), very responsive, latest OS updates from the source itself, easy to use and the positives keep going.

Since you're on telstra your options are a little limited.

You guys do your pricing a little different than over here in the US, but I'm assuming if the iphone was an option you're looking at any phone.

Initially I thought the HTC Velocity was a GSM Rezound, but it looks to be a step down in more than one area. From your options, I would definitely go with the Galaxy Nexus. Ice Cream Sandwich is great, and its a solid phone over the other android options.

Galaxy SII doesn't have a Samsung OS just gingerbread and ICS when it gets released for it.

I would say the android because it will have a bigger screen than the iPhone which is nice for work. I would recommend the galaxy s2, or you could get the galaxy note.

So... No one for the iPhone? Remember, I hate using a computer to transfer... Also, does android have a good skype app?

I've never plugged my phone into my computer. You can just get Google music and upload your songs to that on your computer and get it on your phone. Android has a Skype app.
