It runs with whatever the lowest card is, so 1gb.

Anything besides high settings and AA seems to need more than 1GB vram so to be safe a good card with 2GB vram.

You really gotta get a new motherboard, whether through RMA'ing or buying a new one. It could also affect your cpu from overclocking, and i wouldnt suggest trying to oc on a faulty board. I actually thought u were running at 4ghz cause thats what it says in your sig rig haha. Oc'ing would definitely help your FPS go up.

Well, depending on your needs, if you go 1155 the asus rog maximum iv gene-z is only $179 and if you live near a microcenter I got my 2500k for $179 (actually frys pricematched but live near one regardless)

Ah no way. That sounds like a deal. I do live near a Microcenter. So the 2500k ( essentially an i5 right? ) isn't a step down from the i7-920 (@ 3.4ghz). The 2500k can OC w/ that board to 4ghz or so isn't that right?

Also, is that a good motherboard? I usually think motherboards are higher quality if you pay more for them. My last mobo was 275 (Asus P6T Deluxe V2) but only lasted for 2.5 years. So that's a good mobo huh?

Just noticed and changed that smile.gif lol . And yeah, that's really been bothering me too. If they truly are that cheap and I could get a new quality mobo and 2500k (as long as that's not a downgrade from the i7-920, don't really use HT much, more into the gaming (although i heard it might be used in ARMA 3 but meh.) for ~$300 that would be perfect. Just don't want to scratch on the motherboard again although the one I have is supposed to be quality. Asus 5970 and Asus mobo both went back within 2 years so don't know about ASus.

On that motherboard and cpu, you should be able to get 4.5+ with a good cooler.

That would be nice but don't think it's in the budget right now. Pisses me off I didn't get the 2GB version. I like to add texture packs and stuff in Skyrim too so that kind of chews... a lot. A 5970 2GB runs for only about $300 now right? I bought mine new for $650 (rediculous I know it was brand new at the time and impossible to get one had to buy from Ebay)

The cooler is great I usually get pretty good temps. What is too high by the way for the CPU to run at? I'll test all this stuff when I get my card back tomorrow. I just feel like the motherboard is preventing me from getting any good reading and/or anything really. My GPU Usage drops to 0 during gameplay for heavens sake. Makes just about every game except for WoW and intermittent slideshow.

Few problems with that mobo. Sort of a step down from the P6T Deluxe V2. Only two PCIe slots. No PCI slot (for sound card.) 2nd PCIe only runs at x8. Doesn't that mean you basically can't run Xfire. It needs to be x16 as well right?

No, you can still crossfire. Just you will probably have to run it in x8/x8 mode(could be wrong, not real sure on it)

can you overclock your cpu more? 4ghz shouldn't be to hard and at that speed it wouldn't even be worth getting a 2500k. Just get a Brand new card like the 7950 when they come down it price a bit.

i've run the game with both 6gigs of ram and 12, and when i run on 6 i come close to maxing it out. granted i have teamspeak, afterburner and steam running in the background, but the added memory is a safety net for little more money.
