Installed 180gb Force GT in m14x, but only sata II speeds =(

Thread Starter
After replacing the 7200rpm drive with the 180gb ForceGT from Corsair, I have updated to the latest firmware (1.3.3), BIOS (A08), did a fresh install of Win7 after erasing the disk with Partition magic, got Drivers from dell's website, etc. I didn't see anything in the bios that would be limiting my drive to only sata II speeds, vs the sata III its supposed to be getting =( Any suggestions on what to do? The pc runs great! just not sata III great according to CDM. I only get around 250mbs read and write

o, and I do not have Intel RST installed either

also, went to tech support on corsair, and it sent me to a Q and A. I had done all of their recommended steps, so i hit next, and they want me to send the SSD in.... Do i need to?

Are you sure that the laptop has a SATA 6 Gb/s controller in it?
The only option I see in the spec sheet for it is "256GB Solid State Drive SATA 3Gb/s ".

It may not have that option.

it does in the manual. There are many people who have successively gotten sata III speeds with m14x.

Thanks for the link, it looks like the A05 bios get sata III speeds, ill got back to that one and see what happens. If i remember correctly, the A05 bios would be very buggy, 9 times out of 10 i couldn't get past the windows boot logo, and if it did boot, it would freeze randomly, and i would just be forced to hold the power button.
thanks for the quick feedback, ill let you know what happens!!!

I wouldn't. It seems to be a problem with the chipset drivers on your laptop. Also, did you update the firmware on the SSD?
