Are these fittings any good? (Monsoon fittings)

I feel kinda confident of getting them, but it seems like there is a gap in between the collar and the tubing when the collar is fixated. Is it supposed to be like this? I was always under the impression that the collars would hug the tubing all the way even in the centre. Are the Bitspower fittings the same>?

See the gap in between the metal and the tubing?

I think the chrome ones look amazing, the matte ones not so much tbh. Probably gonna use them with white tubing in my first loop. And they are quite a lot cheaper than the Bitspower ones.

I have a set, which aren't in use yet, but I love them. I got the matte white to go with white tubing/white case. I have also spoken with the maker of these fittings, and he said they have been "torture-tested" for over 6 months, and he is very helpful and passionate about his work. I am 100% confident in these fittings. They look great and are a great value. (not endorsed to say that, just my exp. with talking to the maker on another forum)

Looks like they could potentially leak and have a few issues

http://forums.overclockers.com.au/showthread.php?t=1012530

Might persoanlly stick to more established brands and wait for a revision

I wouldn't listen to that link, the guy didnt even install the outer part of the fitting!

I think if you read on there's debate about the issue the OP mentioned with the clearance and those images seems to be a test they are conducting:

http://forums.overclockers.com.au/showthread.php?t=1012530&page=4

About half way down

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHqh-cVvJ2w

For testing your don't really need to secure it and you can also see in the pictures it's leaking from the collar and not the tubing which seems like its sealed fine without the compression ring

I'd be very iffy if the shoulder has such a large clearance normally the shoulder would reach the sealing plate on the device
post #7 of 11
Even if you don't use the compression ring in a test it shouldn't leak from the thread that type of leaking shows the o-ring isn't sealing

Either way they do look good I might have to pickup a set to test atleast

Apparently, as I read on about that thread you linked, the problem is limited to the radiator he had. And since I am using a RX240, which should most likely (I hope) be one of the many radiators he claimed to have tested on, I should be fine.

But I really am not sure about the gap in the centre of the fitting as I really have no idea whether it should be like that cos I have absolutely no experience with compression fittings at all tongue.gif

The gap is an intentional design feature and won't affect the fitting's function. The compression occurs between the top of that ring and the inner fitting.
