Agreed - with the 'OCNG' bios that tear & co. put out, it really is worth getting a supermicro. Good thing that derick noted that in this guide, that's where I first heard about the OC'ing BIOS. The % overclock that some have gotten is just insane.

I was thinking about doing a 2 CPU system and have no idea how to do it, but I assume it is not possible to do it with Intel consumer level CPU's weather they are Ivy or SB-E chips? I would think they would disable this ability in order to make you buy the Xeon CPUs for a hell of a lot more money.

Get an SR-X and two Xeons tongue.gif

The AMD is cheaper and best bang-for-buck though

That's correct. As dmanstasiu suggested, you'd have to get Xeons (of a specific generation -- the old Xeons + SR-2 is for overclockability, as the current ones are locked) to go Intel.

As for $/PPD, 'tis true, the 4p AMD system is pretty incredible wink.gif

I built my 2nd 4P G34 rig for $2200.00 with 6176 SE's from ebay. Currently clocked @ 2.63Ghz and nets 400K+ PPD. Go for it!

You're getting 400K+? Hmm.. I'm running at 2.8 and rarely see above 340K a day.

One 8101 with 6180's@2.8 should be worth around 350k, which over time averages out to more over 400k PPD. Look at TPF and plug it in here: http://www.linuxforge.net/bonuscalc2.php
If it's used solely for folding the 332k you are getting, means you have a slow connection (longer down- and upload times means less points/unit) or something is wrong with your rig.

I think I am still having problems receiving and submitting work units, I'm not sure why though. My connection at home is suppose to be 15Mbps down and 2Mbps up, in reality speed test shows me getting 5Mbps down and about 1Mbps up on average.
