2500k- Cant get 4.5GHz 12H Prime stable...

I am getting at least 2 or 3 hours+ of prime Blend before a BSOD

I am using a ASUS P8p67 board

AI OVERCLOCK TUNER: Manual
BCLK/PEG FREQUENCY: 100
TURBO RATIO: by all cores ( can change in OS) 45
MEMORY FREQUENCY: 16GB @1333MHz

What's the bsod code?

Most likely need more vcore. What's the vcore under load after vdroop? I'm guessing somewhere around 1.29/1.31v? Try setting the LLC to Ultra high.

I believe I was getting the 124 error mainly.

vcore under load is 1.312-1.320.

yeah, set the LLC to Ultra High and it should help reduce the vdroop.

Ok, I'll try that. I was reading some of your posts and they were talking about Offset voltages and tweaking of the QPI/VTT. I assume this is all unnecessary for 45?

I'm new to overclocking but I understand the basic principle. Changing anything other than the above listed settings is a new world to me smile.gif

yeah you could say that, the QPI/VTT and PLL tweaking is more to do with 'perfecting' the overclock. I have found that reducing the PLL voltage can considerably help in stabilising a chip. When to actually do that is when you're nearing stability. ie. prime failing after an hour or so, then making a change to the PLL to see if that duration increases. Ok, I am getting at least 2+ hours of stability yet I feel I am not near. I'm confused with those settings and would prefer to not damage my chip.. I'll go ahead and read through some of that and stress again with LLC upped.

Update:

Now stressing cpu with prime blend. LLC is ultra high and vcore under load is now 1.352

You can also try setting DUTY CONTROL to EXTREME(voltage stability) and PHASE CONTROL to OPTIMISED. This should make voltages fluctuate less.

QPI/VTT is called VCCIO Voltage on p8p67 boards and it's mainly for DRAM stability, if you are using your RAMs at stock speeds, it should be on AUTO. The BOSDs mentioning 0x1A and Memory Management are related to RAM issues, if you don't get those type of BSODs, you can leave VCCIO on Auto.

The easiest way of overclocking on p8p67 boards is to use Turbo Boost overclocking (Asus reps actually recommend this because these boards have especially built-in features for that)

You can have C1E, Turbo Boost and Speedstep enabled, EPU Power Saving mode disabled. You change Turbo Ratio from Auto to By all Cores, this gives you a single turbo multi to change, set this to 45. Leave Manual Frequency on Auto or 33. Set CPU voltage to Offset mode, offset sign + and offset voltage to something 0.030 to start with. Start with LoadLine Calibration at High. The first thing when you can boot into windows is to check idle and load voltages with CPU-z(latest) or hardware monitor when running Prime95. For 4.5ghz, voltage should be under 1.4, and ideally under 1.35v

Changes voltages, but you really need to stay under 1.4v, before exceeding 1.35v, try Ultra High LLC and CPU Current Capability %110-120. Or even enable Internal PLL Overvoltage. Normally these are for above 4.7-4.8ghz, which it becomes more or less a voltage stability battle.
