so Asus U46E-BAL7 vs MacPro or MacAir...

Thread Starter
Asus specs win hand down. I know that, but how long the laptop going to last? My HP last me 3 years, i love the i7 even though it run hot, it dam fast. Too bad the battery die and stuffs getting broken.
Here where i get the U46
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Asus+-+Laptop+-+Aluminum+Platinum/4566459.p?id=1218492325284&skuId=4566459&st=asus%20U46&cp=1&lp=1

What you guys think i should go with. Since the asus is significantly cheaper, and I probably just dual boot with a Linux OS. I more or less wanna learn to use Linux anyway.

It depends on your needs. The Macbook Pro is better than a Macbook Air.

The air has the option to triboot Linux, Windows, & OSX, very thin, and has a good reselling value.

But the ASUS has the 4G connectivity, lower price tag.

For myself i'd get the Macbook Air only since I could tri boot Mac for experience.

But the ASUS if i was on a budget would be my choice.

Macbook Pro would be my choice.

Resale value is the best on Mac's and Macbooks are really nice computers that are very well made.

How about a Sony VAIO SA? They sell for a similar price, and are more compact. My 14" i3/310m VAIO is very well built, and feels like it'll last a long time.

An HP folio or Envy would be a good MBA alternative, and a samsung series 7 is essentially a Windows MBP with better specs.

You can get a sony for the same price and have a graphics card. Otherwise if you want something more powerful then the mac, another alternative would be a lg p330 when they are released.

It really depends on your needs...
I would wait it out till some new macbooks come out with new processors and video cards,
but that is just me

The macbook pro
with an i7
and a 6770 i believe is pretty nice
plus as other stated resale value is very nice...

although my macbook air is running lightroom on it and it handles like a charm
specially when its core 2 duo
That is my needs specially on the move and outdoors it works wonders

Just be sure to get a nice shield for it
to protect the aluminum

tis really up to you what you want to get, just be sure that your sure so you dont loose your mind with your computer

I have that "Apple" grudge so I'd say Asus.

My HP laptop has been serving me solidly for the past 6 years, my Toshiba has been going along fine for two. With the proper care I don't see how the ASUS is going to fall apart any more than the Mac will.

The ASUS, simply going off the performance for the dollar. Also, ASUS' laptops have a bit of a record for being sturdy and reliable.
