Option, you should run cs in directx 7. That will give u a big boost in frames. Type "-dxlevel 70" (without quotes) in the cs launch options.

I didn't say that an x850xt wasn't good enough for competative play. I said that at max settings I don't get high enough framerate to satisfy my standards. When I started playing in CAL I had a 9550 so obviously you don't need a great video card to do well as option said. Also I am not only buying a new card for performance in CS:S. I want to upgrade now because $200 isn't really a huge investment for me and Vista is still quite a while off plus I can always sell the card when I upgrade.
