Any good sales for the Vita launch??? - Page 3

Am I the only one waiting until later in the year for when the price on the WiFi Vita will drop to $199?

The 3G is a waste. It's not enough bandwidth for adequate online gaming, and it's not worth the monthly expense for if you "might" want to download some PSN game while waiting in the check-out lane of a grocery store.

I have the WiFi only Kindle and have never once thought to myself that I need 3G.

Besides, if this country gets off it's butt soon enough, WiFi access should be city-wide within this decade.

I am not waiting for a price drop honestly because IMO opinion for the tech I do not feel the price is even all that high. maybe because I dont have budgets as most people do so the prices to me may seem different then someone will less money.

Price is a steal and the games are already there. I see no reason to wait. 3G is awesome, and I've felt the need for 3G with my TouchPad a ton of times. I wait for my gf to get off of work sometimes because we work at the same place, and there is no wifi there... it sucks.

I waited for the 3DS price drop because it had like 1 good game at launch, and it was a remake.

Not sure where you get your info? 199$? I haven't seen any official confirmation of that. Just because the 3DS got price drop doesn't mean the Vita will. The 3DS had no killer apps at launch something the Vita does. Sony doesn't drop prices quickly on hardware, never have.

Those of you saying that the price is not a concern also have high end CPUs and GPUs in your computers. Your willing to spend on gaming, which is fine... however I can't see the $249 price tag and the launch line up of games resonating with anyone except PS3 owners and hardcore gamers. I'm on Sony's side with this device. I'd love a portable PS3 in the palm of my hands. But truth of the matter is, a price drop is inevitable if they want to see huge sales this coming Holiday. With Wii-U and possibly a new XBox console on the way, most gamers aren't going to have unlimited cash to spend on multiple devices this year.

Well if your waiting for a price drop on the system you will be waiting awhile. Most dual core phones are 500-600$. This is a quad core gaming device we are lucky its as cheap as it is with the features.

Hope you dont take this wrong but you got to pay to play with the latest hardware. Maybe buy a PSP-3000 used or a 3DS? Lots of good games on these systems. Again the 3DS being discounted was a fluke around a bad launch line up.

The fact new consoles are coming out in fall 2013 at earliest has nothing to do with the Vita price what so ever. They are two totally different markets. The Wii U has already been rumored to have a $600+ price tag with its crazy new tablet type controller. And even Nintendo has admitted people looking for a Wii type price for the system will be shocked. This will be the only console released this year and will not force the Vitas price down.

Not sure where you are saying hardcore games launch line up??? Hot Shots Golf? Touch my Katamari? Lumines? Uncharted? These are not hardcore games what so ever. The first three I wouldn't be surprised to see on Nintendo if they weren't exclusive. The only really hardcore titles at launch will be Ninja Gaiden, Street Fighter vs Tekken and maybe a JRPG.

The only thing that will push the price down is a long period of poor sales, which Sony has somewhat experienced in Japan. But considering there are still 500K+ displaced in that country its to be expected. If the lack luster launch in Japan hasnt affected the price our launch wont either. The Vita has been in Amazons US Top 10 Sellers list multiple times in the last couple of months. They are selling like crazy already.

I can see what your saying but I do not see a price drop on the Vita anytime soon. The WII U's pricing we really dont know & its all speculation at ths point but rumors around the net have it pinged at either 250 or 600 at launch. Also wuth the new PS3 and 360 I do not see a new console from them until at least the holidays of 2013.

As I said & this only goes for me. I just do not see for the current tech of the Vita where the price is expensive. The Vita is pretty technically advanced right now. 4 Core CPU, OLED Screen & a prety amazing back touch pad I have ever seen but I can understand where you are coming from here. Not everyone has money or lots of money to spend so the price may hurt the Vita because of it but for someone like myself the price is just right.

If you buy retail games 8GB should be plenty. However even if you want a 16gb card I think you should get the launch bundle anyway and just sell the 8gb card on ebay or something. The card will come in a separate sealed retail package afaik. You basically get the 3G version for only $20 more than the wifi after you sell the card. and then you get a free PSN game and 250mb free on top of that.

correct but if you looked at the target sale I posted the wifi only is the one that comes with the 20 dollar gift card which is then going to be used to take 20 bucks off of a memory card and 8 GB may in fact be enough memory so in total I'd only end up paying $260 (minus 5% + tax) for an 8GB card and wifi only vita. Sure I'm missing out on the free game and "250 MB" of data and the 3G capability but in all honest that isn't worth the extra 40 dollars, especially since my budget is pretty tight right now!

Memory was an issue for me with the original psp. The 32mb that came with it wasn't very much so I eventually bought a 1gb card down the road which was still pretty pricey but plenty of space at the time, however after 1 data install from the new dissidia (or monster hunter i forgot) but it was full so I had to go out yet again and buy a 4gb stick! I I think I'm just gonna buy a 16 GB now and see if that will last the life of the system because I foresee more required data installs!
