Removing it isn't going to change the default value. You need to override it with margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;.

What? I don't understand, you ask about one thing but post code that's unrelated?

These p elements have a default margin top and bottom equal to 1em and that's what's causing the gaps:
Code:
<div class="mainbox">
                        <p>hestur</p>
                        <p>hestur</p>
                        <p>hestur</p>
                        <p>hestur</p>
</div>
This is taken from the code that you posted with the image and now quoted it, so get your things straight if you have 3 different pages at once.

Do you really just want to select links in the body, or simply the entire page? In either case, you should select a div around or just inside of the body tag, or ID the body tag itself.
Code:
<body>
    <div id="baylife">
        <a href="randomlinkl0l"></a>
    </div>
</body>

#baylife a {
    a:link    {color:purple;}
    a:visited {color:red;}
    a:hover   {color:green;}
    a:active  {color:yellow;}
}

Alternatively, I'm pretty sure you could also just do this:
Code:
body > a {
/* css */
}

You should look up CSS selectors for more information. There's a ton of ways to use them.

I don't think it's right, > is a child selector, you want the descendant selector, which would be just
Code:
body a:hover {
/* css */
}

but since all a's will be in body, it's the same as just
Code:
a:hover {
/* css */
}

Also no need to id the body (sounds like CSI), because there can be only one body in the document, so the
Code:
body {
/* css */
}

applies to just one element by definition.
