Okey as topic said this is my first time OC a cpu.

CPU = AMD Phenom II 955 Be 3.2Ghz

CPU cooling = NH-D14

MOBO = Msi 870A-G54 "military class"

Dram = G.skill ripjaws 2x4gb 1600Mhz

it would be rly nice with some good ideas/tips on how far i can take my comp smile.gif

IM A NOOB so no flaming pls =)

Served,

i read that that particular mobo is not meant for overclocking. no heatsink on the vrms to cool them. in short it is risky. sorry.

your motherboard however is known to have problems with failure and even fire when overclocking ;(
you can look up what has happened to others here

I hate to bring you the bad news, but with that MOBO, (I had one for an emergency replacement for my 955BE) has no VRM , MOSFET protection (mine burnt out after 2 days and thast just using the turbo feature) Theres no heat sinks and the board is FAMOUS for burning out, even catching fire. With that MOBO I would recommend running it on stock settings, sorry. Or buy a new MOBO. The M5A97 is cheap and is a really good overclocker with heat sinks in all the right places.

Edit: there was only 2 responses when I started writing this sorry for the repeat information but I guess he has the point.. thumb.gif P.S I did own one for 2 days and it burnt out so that puts me in a good position to comment.
