there are so many different specs and rumors going around that there is no point in trying to figure it out.
The cards will be out within the next week or two and we'll find out then.
Until then, well, we'll just have to hope for the best.
Also, I hope that the high end desktop trinity pairs with 7770 or 7790... That would be beast. Whether it does or not I am going with trinity and whatever highest card it will CF with.
Come on AMD, lets make 2012 the best one yet...

Don't count on the Trinity part; the 7700 series is GCN whereas Trinity is VLIW5

And how do you know this. I have heard from many sources that trinity will have radeon hd 7000 series graphics.

A lot of people say a lot of different things when really they have no idea. Until I see the proof from AMD themselves, I'm just hoping for the best.

Either way, I am going with trinity and the highest gpu it can support in CF whether its VLIW4-5 or GCN....

Also, I think there is going to be a difference between mobile trinity and desktop trinity when it comes to the graphics. Dont know for sure and wont make any wild accusations because there is no proof from AMD themselves.

Some sources that say otherwise...

http://www.anandtech.com/show/5013/details-on-trinity-amds-next-gen-apu

http://www.anandtech.com/show/5426/amd-clarifies-7000m-strategy - This source says that everything above 7600M Radeon graphics is going to be GCN but this is for the mobile chips.

Trinity is VLIW4. There's already die shots of trinity floating around.

I did find this though which is from AMD that shows Kaveri to have GCN and just shows trinity to have 2nd gen DX11.

This may imply that trinity will not have GCN but from other sources they say that some will and some wont. They dont show anything about different models of trinity so I guess we'll just have to wait until legit specs or release.

Yeah but there are many different Trinity chips. A lot of sources say that some models will have GCN and some wont.

I am not going to give my hopes up but I'll wait until release or AMD clarification for the proof.

A lot of pics and sources and specs of trinity and a lot of them do not agree so it is kind of pointless to believe in 3rd party rumors or statements.

A lot of people say a lot of different things. For someone to believe it is just nonsense.

This guy above said it was VLIW5. You say VLIW4. A lot of sources say GCN, VLIW4, and VLIW5.

This just proves my point that anyone to believe these rumors is not smart.

Again, I will wait for AMD specs or release for the proof.

ALSO - the 100W Trinity desktop chips aren't being released until May compared to the 65Watt chips being released in March.

Who knows the 65 watt may have VLIW4-5 and 100W may have GCN or vice versa. Who knows what AMD is doing exactly.

Their financial analyst day didnt really get into specifics of their future chips.

Trinity. Won't. Have. GCN.

This has been known since June, when Anandtech posted their GCN preview.
Quote:
What we know for a fact is that Trinity – the 2012 Bulldozer APU – will not use GCN, it will be based on Cayman’s VLIW4 architecture.

Besides, like I said, there's die shots of trinity already out there. It's pretty damn obvious that the GPU is a VLIW based architecture.

Having VLIW5 on a brand new part would be moronic. Usario doesn't know what he's talking about.

Also, you really think it'd be a good idea to waste a bunch of time doing validation for two different graphics architectures in a situation where the GPU and CPU need to work together as well as possible?

Did you look at my sources. Anand says that Trinity will have GCN...

And you post those pics like I know what the hell im looking at. I am not a microprocessor engineer. So you tell me when its so damn obvious. I have no clue whats being shown in those pics. I dont think you do either.
How am I supposed to know that thats a trinity chip. How am I supposed to know that its not GCN. Why dont you point out to me the difference between VLIW and GCN in the pics since it seems you know everything.

You can say all you want but I am not going to believe what some one says other than AMD themselves.

I dont know why this is turning into a big deal. Why are you guys trying so hard to convince me that its not GCN.

I dont care what it is. But I am not going to take information from a third party and believe it.

I will believe Trinity has VLIW or GCN when AMD says it does or when it is released.

Its not that big a deal. Stop making it out to be.

I could care less what architecture trinity is using as long as the reviews turn out good. You are trying to beat a dead horse man. There is no point in trying to convince me cause it just doesnt matter and I jsut dont care.

If trinity has VLIW then I will be happy. If trinity has GCN then I willl be more happy. Either way I will be happy.

If Trinity used GCN, it'd be DX 11.1.

2nd generation DX 11 = VLIW4. 1st generation was Northern Islands.

If you didn't care, you wouldn't be throwing such a tantrum.
