So they goofed up 1 series with overheating issues, I don't think it'll ever happen again thumb.gif

Especially since each generation of architecture seems to be getting smaller and cooler, look at Southern Islands!

LOL. I actually kind of wish they did that. Hmmm...how long would it take to cook with a 480? I like Nvidia and all but that's amusing to imagine.

And if the 7990 is not already out it's because they're waiting for nVIDIA to launch a card that beats the 7970, so they can launch the 7990 and kick them in the butt again...
They're geniuses when it comes to reply to the competence, you gotta admit that xD

AMD should be so proud, it only took them a Year and a Half, plus a new Generation to finally beat the 580.

And here comes 996gt2 to bash on AMD and every product they make. Just another day with 996gt2.

Die hard Intel fan spending all his time in AMD threads to talk trash...

Great, way to go and pull the fanboy card. Now you're going to get the thread locked. Genius.

Also, of all people, him? Really? The comment he made is perfectly reasonable. GCN shaders aren't really any faster than VLIW4 shaders as far as gaming goes, and there's less of them. Even though they're clocked higher, 800 SPs @ 850MHz > 640 SPs @ 1000 MHz. If AMD is going to make this part fast, they're going to have to compensate somewhere else.
