I'll say I'm rookie to all this. I wasn't even aware of what TIM is. After removing cooler I noticed the brownish layer of dust(yeah. I really perceived TIM as dust). And you know the after story:rolleyes:

stay away from desi PSU like i-ba,zebronic,VIPetc...
here read this Power supply blacklist PSU for newbies
and were are you exactly from ??? i meant which state or city ???
go with a MX-2 if available locally for like 350 to 400 bucks or Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound 3.5 gram Rs.550
as for HSF go with Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO CPU Cooler Rs.2099
and i dont know what Graphic card do you have but if you have a normal setup or any graphic card uptill 5500Ti or 6770 go with a Corsair CX430V2 Rs.2300
overclocking need many precautions yaar a good PSU and a HSF firstly a overclockable CPU which is the only thing you have, a overclockable motherboard fromthat i have to ask u which motherboard do u have ??? Good decent quality RAMs these are some of the things that u have to keep in mind yaar boha junjat ka kam ha par boht maza aata ha redface.gifthumb.gif sorry for my spelling mistakes i m not that good at Hinglish biggrin.gifbiggrin.gif
and one more thing "CORE UNLOCKER" u cant unlock a 965 BE wink.gifwink.gif

no problem, a year ago, I would have thought the same thing about that weird dust under the heatsink lol.

I have the same processor as you, the most hottest ive ever let it get was 61c and that was scary as hell. as of now, I absolutely won't let it go over 52c. when gaming it usually hangs around 45c clocked at 4.0ghz.

+1 for all of the grain of rice application suggestions here, its never failed me. put the paste right in the middle and squish down the heatsink. latching the heatsink down will do the rest of the work for you thumb.gif

also aftermarket cooling would be a good idea if you plan to overclock. I like the corsair H series all in one water cooling systems(I'm using the corsair H50), however, for a cheaper option the cooler master hyper 212 will be more than enough for that processor and some decent overclocking

I wouldn't be paying $13 (!!!!!!!!!!!) for an old TIM when it is possible to pay just $9 for a larger tube of a TIM that will outperform AS5 and be easier/safer to use due to non-conductivity and no cure time.
