I just moved my ssd to the very first intel sata3 port0 and booted, it saw it, but would not actually go to it. Just booted back into uefi.
I moved the dvd burner to the very next port underneath the port0 intel 1. Now the ssd is not detected on port 0 while the dvd burner is.
i see. might be a driver problem then. maybe try reinstalling them. did you say the ssd worked if the dvd drive wasn't plugged in btw, or haven't you tried that yet?

The black screen happens to me if my computer has been shutdown for an extended period of time. Powering down and upluging the PSU for a few seconds usually fixes this. I think they're is some kind of electric build up causing it to occur. I've also experienced the black screen with bad overclocks.
my asrock mobo does that sometimes on boot. i to found that unplugging the power supply, but for 10 mins or so would sort it out. these asrock motherboards are sketchy...
