February Foldathon - Greatest. Foldathon. EVER! - Page 51

Broke 200k last hour, looks good on my way to my personal goal of 400k this time around.

However, my client type is 'unknown' in HFM.net and it says 0 ppd, core is unknown, core ID A4, and 0 credit (I turned off showing bonus points because I haven't finished my 10 WUs)
I'm running a i5-2500k @ 4.4 GHz. My TPF is about 3-4 minutes (browsing the internet/watching a stream). Is it a problem that these fields are 'unknown' or am I ok?

7200 doesn't show up on http://fah-web.stanford.edu/psummary.html where HFM gets its information from, hence it's not showing anything PPD credit or such. Got to http://www.linuxforge.net/bonuscalc2.php and enter your TPF to see how it's doing.

Looks good, might wanna run just smp 6 (smp 7 is kinda a bad idea as some WUs will fail) when running a Radeon.

OC moar, upgrade hardware and VMware Folding | juano's helpful post to set it up (the last suggestion is jut for CPU though, the others applies for GPUs aswell).

The setup for this one isnt very helpfull it just says enable gpu/ cpu check all that apply to you and hit start.

The FahCore_xx.exe is what does the work, the tracker just tracks (haha) and manged them for you.

Sorry to be blowing up the thread but i just want it to work as good as it possibly can.

That's probably because you're running a CPU with sub 8 threads/cores.

Take a look at this to fold at a higher pace (I have never seen a 7200 with this): VMware Folding | juano's helpful post to set it up

Take that slacker card! devil.gif

What's the best tag run with the GPU2 client and ATI GPUs? I currently have -forcegpu ati_r600.

(and on a side note, the GTX460 is also running at 99% simultaneously, win-win?)

That v6 client will net you less points, just so you know. Mixing AMD/Nvidia GPUs have never been a good idea (and have them both folding), ran a 460 (main) and 6970 (second) myself and couldn't get the drivers to properly recognize the 6970 and Afterburner wouldn't show it either so that was just pushing stock (no OC).

The 2600K doesn't need those changes right.
Also OC works for more ppd as long as your system is stable. Though I came down on my OC as I dont want to wake up to a BSOD. Pushing the base clock past 105MHz on these I7s is ok right.

You wanna do that to a 2600K too, it will be more efficient but you have to have a decent OC going, or look at this: VMware Folding | juano's helpful post to set it up

Drivers man, also make sure it's not an unstable OC! 258.96, 266.58 or 266.66 is the driver I run and unless I get a card that's not supported I'd keep on using those.

would i be better to get V7 client and run 6950's or keep running 2500k (just bumped to 5ghz biggrin.gif), also have a 2nd 2500k at 4.1ghz and i currently get around 30k PPD in HFM.

Rule of thumb: one CPU "free" core per Radeon folding. And nice 2500K, 30k at only 4.1 sounds to good to be true but I'd take that.

Yep they take 4-8 Hrs give 3800-5100 Pts and yield about 16000 PPD

Not bigadv though, but advanced WUs. 8031, 8032 and 8033 is some sweet new WUs that will jump most Fermis up a considerable bit ( at least 460 and up).

I'm using 285.62 drivers on my 9800 GTX+ and GPU Tracker V2 is reporting 6.6k PPD at stock clocks so I'm pretty happy with those.

Not sure what that quote is in reference to but more than likely you do not want to run multiple clients on the same CPU as the time to complete each will be much greater and you will suffer a loss when it comes to the bonuses.
