HPCS folding noobs irritate me. I don't like being passed by people that after the HPCS beta shuts down will only be producing half of what I do.

I have not gone any higher on the drivers yet. waiting to see stability results

hey
i was just wondering if someone can give me a heads up on how many points i should be getting with my 2500k at 4.4GHz and my PS3?
i dont fold on my 6870 as it slows my 2500k down massively

so far ive been folding for 23.5 hours now, gave my pc a half hour break in the morning, and ive only got 14,400 points...
how do other people get stupidly high points

My 2500k at the same clocks has gone anywhere from 12,000 to 32,000 in a day depending on WUs and how much other stuff I do on it. Its hard to judge PPD output with only 23.5 hours due to the way points work. If you get a large WU you may only finish one or none in a 24 hour period but overall your points may be if you look at a 7 day average. Or you can get a bunch of small WUs that will report points every couple of hours but get the same points overall. Sounds like your 2500K is in the right ball park right now though. Give it some run time and it will average out.

Alternatively report back with what WU, TPF and PPD estimate your getting from HFM and we can give you a better assessment.

With the same processor and a clock in the 5GHz range people could be folding on Bigadv which yields alot more points, however, im with the recent changes im not sure its still possible on a 2500K. If your talking high points in general some people have multiple computers running under the same name or are using the HP cloud services free beta to get some additional points.

You wanna do that to a 2600K too, it will be more efficient but you have to have a decent OC going, or look at this: VMware Folding | juano's helpful post to set it up

That's the guide I used to set up for this FaT. Worked my way up to 30k PPD on CPU and 20K PPD on my 560. And last night out of the blue a wild bigadv work unit showed up for my 560. Kinda sucks now though I have to go to my college classes which means my window closes and things can heat up. Thankfully this nice little company made a program called PC Monitor so I can be OCD checking my phone every 20min in class to make sure I don't have a melt down.

If you look at your PS3 it will be submitting WUs worth about 251 points every 6 or so hours. If you have a slim its a lot more worth it as they only chew up about 150w whereas the big boys do it with about 300w.

Absolutely.

Depends on what you mean. Running say a i7-3930K or i7-970 to it's full potential is not possible with the free version of VMWare (it's possible the version you have to pay for supports this), the current version, 4.something, only support up to 4 cores and v3.0.0 can support up to 8 cores (with a little trick). If you have one of these above CPUs (or something else that would lead to 12 cores) you must use a different visualization software, a popular choice is VirtualBox which supports a lot of cores, there are a bunch of others too.

If you mean the corefix to get BA-12 WUs on a sub 12 threaded CPU, then yes as you'll only be folding on your actual core count, i.e. 8 for a 2600K.
