I am currently in the process of a new build and using my old for a HTPC I am keeping my 6870 for my new build, wondering if anyone has used the 4250 on board for their htpc and how they fair out

Should be fine for youtube and DVD playback, I wouldn't try to play games on it

Well, the 4200 does just fine on my HTPC (but not with AM2 processors, but an AM3 Sempron 140 works fine).

My current HTPC, which I'm about to upgrade (not due to playback performance), has the HD 3200, which is the older version of this same IGP, and it's perfectly capable of playing back videos. Moreover, it is using an old AM2 CPU, the Athlon X2 4850e. With your sig HTPC, you should be perfectly fine.

4250 supports hardware accelleration in most video players, and flash, so it should play youtube 1080p and pretty much anything 1080p just fine.

I've built HTPC's in the past using the 4250. It does fine for video playback, even at 1080.
