Help! I need a new trackball!

Thread Starter
My keyboard tray on my desk decided to take a dive today. Literally. My Microsoft Optical Trackball got dropped, the ball launched across the house, and now it doesn't seat properly. The ball is all scratched up, and it doesn't move smoothly.

I've had this thing for seven years, and love it to death.

So... I need a new trackball, but I can't find any that meet my requirements:

Wired. I hate wireless stuff on desktops.

Thumb ball. No fingertip balls.

That's really it for what I am looking for. Does anyone know of any new ones out there, or am I stuck getting another one of these used?

Those are all fingertip balls, and I have to have a thumb ball.

The one thumb ball in there is wireless, and I would much prefer to stay away from wireless if I can.

Thank you for trying though.

If you want new, your best bet is Amazon (if they have new). Logitech was the only one to make those (edit: MS made a thumbball too) and they only offer the wireless model now.

I would suggest a CST L-TRAC (the only laser trackball I have ever found). It's a fingerball, but I've been using one for a couple years now and love it. You can check your trackball options at www.trackballworld.com/ to see if anything suits your fancy.

Sorry i need to get into the habit of properly reading instead of skimming through the post,

What exactly is broken on your trackball? i don't suppose you've shot Microsoft and email asking if they have spares?

The ball itself, and the housing it goes into.

They discontinued this trackball years ago, I seriously doubt they'll have any parts for it.

Did you use the Logitech Trackman? I see a ton of them on the Bay. Some new even.

Unfortunately the wired version was discontinued in 2011 but maybe grab a couple now in case you need another in 2019.
