So I don't have access to distilled water.. - Page 7

Can't you order a pallette full of distilled water? biggrin.gif

That would last a pretty long time.

Why water cool, put the PC in a weather proof box outside and run the cabling indoors. You'll have a cooler system than the dry ice people and it can run 24/7 and not 5 minutes like theirs. smile.gif

Problem is condensation. Out here in the SW Washington State areas it probably wouldn't happen. But you're talking about as far North in Canada you can get without your breath freezing to your lips and face and suffocating you. I'm being facetious with this last bit, but the problem is very real. Stick something that generates heat outside in the snow even in a "weatherproof" box it's going to generate condensation. Which as we know is not a good thing for electronics. And not close to a good thing for a CPU. wink.gif

Nice idea but I'm afraid it would fail in the application. mellowsmiley.gif

This would only be true if the box was relatively well sealed, which would be undesirable anyway, and was sealed up in an environment where the dew point of the air was higher than the temperature temperature the box ends up placed in.

If the system was placed outside in an enclosure that protected it from the weather, but is not completely sealed, there would be no condensation on the inside of the enclosure, as the heat generated by electronics is purely sensible(dry) heat.

You could create a computer where the heatsink IS the case.

Better yet is to use a system the same as a dryer exhaust only draw in the cold air from outside and connect the hose to your inlet fan.

Not so simple at the extreme subzero ambient temperatures he's dealing with.
