Planning My First Intel Rig - Page 2

I am thinking about sticking with the Fractal Midi. After much debate, I think I am going to wait to get a video card. I'm thinking in March I'll have about $400 to spend on a video card, if I can keep the rest of the build under $1200.

I've made some updates based on suggestions. The new build is looking like this.

Case = Still Fractal Design Midi
MOBO = GA-Z68XP-UD3P
Power Supply = Corsair Professional Series Gold AX650
Processor = Intel i5 2500K
SSD = Sticking with 64GB Crucial M4 (my steam library is on my 1TB USB 3.0 7200RPM HDD)
RAM = G.Skill X Series 1600 CL8
OS = Still Windows 7 Home Premium

On a side Note I was thinking about doing an Intel i7-2600 instead of the i5-2500K. Is it worth the added $70?

No, not at all.

Stick with the 2500K if you're purely gaming. Not to mention, the only way you can really justify the 2600K (Do not get the non-K version..) is if you do other things aside from gaming like rendering, encoding, heavy multi-tasking, CAD, etc..

Here's the latest. I bumped the budget to $1300 so I could get the video card I wanted. Though with Ivy Bridge releasing soon I may make some revisions to this before I actually purchase it.

Case = Fractal Design Midi
MOBO = GA-Z68XP-UD3P
Power Supply = Corsair Professional Series Gold AX650
Processor = Changed to Intel i5 2550K
SSD = 64GB Crucial M4
RAM = G.Skill X Series 1600 CL8
OS = Windows 7 Home Premium
Video Card = Nvidia GTX 570 1280MB

Changes: Added video card, and changed processor to 2550K
