Should I get into pc gaming or not?

Thread Starter
I enjoy playing console, pc interests me, but I'm worried about low numbers of players or issues with crashing, etc and all the problems that could come along with pc gaming. I have some friends who play on PC, but I am thinking about building soon... if I can make up my mind, but I don't know if i should just stick to console. Try and convince me why it's a good idea to build a gaming pc... biggrin.gif

Well there isn't a problem of low players on like ANY game that I know of. Even cs 1.6 which is a 11 year old game has servers packed full.
PC is more expensive, but I really don't like consoles but I understand how some do smile.gif
Go for it if you have the money.

Better graphics
Higher FPS = Smoother gameplay
Mouse + keyboard allows you to do whatever you want, turn a 180 in a millisecond and after a second snipe with really slow sensitivity, unlike on console.
+ If you got friends on PC it is hella fun just ******* around while VOIPing with them.

better graphics, better physics, more players (bf3 on console - 24 players max, bf3 on pc - 64 players max), potential for better frame rates if your build is good enough, free user mods and other content for games, dont have to pay a subscription every year just to be able to play games online, cheaper games, if a piece of hardware breaks or you get software problems you can diagnose and put it right yourself, using a mouse to aim of frist person shooters etc, the list goes on....

the main downsides are the cost of building a good rig and missing out on some amazing console exclusive games. i end up buying a console from time to time just to play games like forza, gran turismo, uncharted, metal gear solid, red dead redemption etc...

i've tried to switch to consoles but i always come crawling back to pc gaming. its a love and hate relationship. you will find problems a little more difficult to deal with in the early days but just keep coming to forums like this and you'll learn a bunch of stuff in no time. learning how to keep your computer clean, tidy and a bit of knowledge in optimizing settings is the main thing you need to know. updating drivers and patching games manually is something you'll need to get used to as well, although a lot of that stuff can be done automatically these days.

if you want any tips on this stuff in more detail then i will be happy to help thumb.gif

Gaming on a PC is becoming a minority, but for a good reason wink.gif

It cost more for a better experience, games are cheaper on PC in general, and you get to brag and compete with keeping your machine up to date.

But all your friends who are gaming on a console which is over 5 years old you get to laugh at thumb.gif

BUT

if money is tight, a console is the way to go rolleyes.gif

My first reaction would be to agree that consoles are better if you got less cash. But when you think about it you can build a pc that will be significantly better than any console for the cost of less than 2 new consoles. Then you will save money on games and the online subscription fee's, plus you'll have all the benefits mentioned. So in the long run it could work out cheaper than having a console if you do it right. Anyone else thinkin that?

everything they said about getting a PC, PLUS: not only can it be a machine great for gaming, but it can also be used for other forms of entertainment. It can be your HTPC/GAME rig. Have all your videos and movies and what not playing smoothly, listening to music while gaming ( i do, you don't have too), and everything just runs faster than a stock computer thumb.gif
