I also love punching the top of my Xbox 360 to get the tray to open...but thats just another perk with consol.

Yeah! Low rez texures, 30fps, 0 antialiasing, 0 antistropic filtering, and 30$ a month for interwebz gaming FTW!!!

Finally some people talking sense. Everyone knows that 30fps is the smoothest, and low res looks the best!

I feel like the best days of PC gaming are behind us. Consoles get so much more focus because of their appeal to the masses. So games that used to be PC games ported to consoles are now Console games ported to PC.

We still get a few though. Starcraft 2 will never go console. We will have Diablo 3. Wow heads will not accept an Xbox. I don't think it's necessarily behind us, but it's not really climbing and booming like it should either. I feel the problem will only get worse with the next generation of consoles. As long as they are still competitively priced (as compared to an up to date computer system) with their shiny new hardware and amazing "state of the art graphics" which will likely be similar to what we as PC gamers can experience now, people may ditch the computer all-together. I think Microsoft had vision of this when they decided to jump on the console bandwagon. Either way, they'll be in the game.

But if you can plug a USB mouse and Keyboard into an Xbox1080 or whatever they'll call it, and minimize the game and go into a windows8-like interface, where you can browse facebook, check email, etc. what's the appeal for the common consumer to have a computer anymore? I think they need to just consolidate and let us play the next gen Xbox games on the PC. After-all, they are both Microsoft. Then I think we'll be out of the woods of this problem. Computer enthusiasts can still build their godly systems, and Xbox players can still play their games, and the ultra settings will only be available on the PC, game coded once. I think if this happens, it will level the playing field and most likely Sony and Nintendo will be in more serious trouble than they already are. Who could compete?

Yeah but "a few" isnt enough for me!

I know im being a boob here but I can count the number of PC games I've really enjoyed playing in the past 3 years on one hand.

It depends on what you want to get out of it. Console gaming is great for someone who doesn't like computers, doesn't get computers, and just wants a simple way to plug a box into a tv and be entertained. PC gaming on the other hand tailors to people who love pc's, love modding, and just want to push leading titles to the bleeding edge of perfection. PC gaming when done right does bring along quite a hefty price tag (more than your average console) but in the end offers a much better gaming experience and community. This means more clarity, enhanced features, mods to make games better and last longer, and a much more mature audience (most cursing 9 year olds can't scrape together $1.2K for a gaming rig). I've met tons of really awesome people all over the world through PC gaming and PC forums like OCN. It's a great side of gaming that's not slowing down any time soon. Build a rig and join the ranks.

High end PC building and gaming has always been a market and niche of society that will never be a majority.
PC gaming ftw

Competitive PC gaming hasn't been growing for awhile, if that's what you mean by the best days of PC gaming.
However, RTS', MMOs, RPS', and genres similar to those have been growing.
With the into of attractive F2P games such as TF2 and many others, more people seem to be considering PC gaming.
Who knows, PC gaming might on day not too far in the future become much more attractive and popular to the masses; interests change for some people.
