Star Trek Online? That's about the only one not mentioned.

APB is ok I guess, not very good though. Star Trek online is actually pretty decent though, that's a free to play MMO on steam. It's a bit confusing at the start but isn't as bad as I was expecting it to be.

I suggest you Rusty Hearts: a good mmo action game.
I've heard good things about Vindictus but I never actually played it. There are some good mmorpgs now free such as Champions online, Everquest II, Global AGenda, Stark Trek online, DC universe Online; they're all quite good if you like the genre and don't be afraid to jump from one to another if you're not liking what you're playing.
World of Tanks is a really nice game action sort of third person tank game.. Don't forget to give a look to ARMA II free.
Try Simraceway if you're looking for some racing.
In addiction you should look at Alien swarm, really good, and a list of source mods available for free such as Dystopia, PVKII, Insurgency, . Have a look here for everything free on Steam: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=851573

I dont either but it is much more difficult because of paid weapons. I mostly did the AI matches for weps but they have made them much more difficult and it is getting very hard to find a good team. I never said it was not worth playing but it CAN get nerve racking really fast.

if you can live with fantasy online MMos: iris online, luna online both have decent gameplay and graphics.

world of tank as suggested, its actually highly addicting.

then theres one game none of you would play but i like it called Audition , its an online dance battle game.

I've been playing some STO lately. It's pretty good, but I only really recommend the space combat. Also, there are some great user-authored modules for it once you've past about level 10-15.... and about then is when you start getting enough abilities to make space combat interesting and tactical. If you think that space combat is almost worth playing it for at levels 3-5, then it might be worth sticking around until 10-11 until you get your upgraded ship to see if it really is.

Otherwise... Largely what people have said before. If you want a really hard/retro game that's not like anything out today, you can try Netstorm? It's a really weird recommendation, but it's basically a RTS set on floating islands... and the strategy is largely building floating bridges between your island and theirs. Also placing buildings (you have almost zero control over anything once it's placed. It feels like a computerized chess that you're just not used to. At least, it does to me. Good for a few hours, maybe?)
