Memories... now I might have to buy it again lol.
MNK/WAR was always powerful. My monk used to upset rangers cause I'd compete with them for DPS, and that's when rangers cost like 30,000,000gil a month in ammo, lol.
Steam is fubar right now. Good thing, too. I'm considering buying it again lol.
Yeah the game is much easier now. Check out the picture I added to my previous post to see how cool it is lol. Experience gains have been doubled and leveling from level 1 is a piece of cake. With Abyssea parties you can earn upwards of 40,000 exp per hour and you only have to be level 30 to enter. Of course the monsters are level 80+ so you'd be leeching, but if you don't mind being gimp and worthless until you skillup it's the fastest way to level. If you don't want to do that they have a new dungeon book system that rewards you exp for killing a required number of mobs. It can be done solo or in a group and is a viable way to level. Basically 6 man exp parties don't exist anymore.
There's so many new things to learn that I can't even begin to describe them here. I had a friend in the same boat as you who used to play, but hadn't played since they revamped it. I started talking about Abyssea, weakness targeting, empyrean armor, and he had no idea what I was talking about lol. You should definitely check it out though, you won't be disappointed.

Everyone in this thread has already suggested the best MMO's to you. If you don't want to try FFXI then I think your best bet would be SWTOR. However, SWTOR is very similar to WoW. You said you didn't really like WoW so you probably won't like SWTOR. Maybe MMO's just aren't your thing?
