I also loved playing a Thief, but I remember that leveling to 15 was a nightmare because noone wanted you in a group. Then you got sneak attack. The thief wasn't really fun until SATA, though.

Memories... now I might have to buy it again lol.

MNK/WAR was always powerful. My monk used to upset rangers cause I'd compete with them for DPS, and that's when rangers cost like 30,000,000gil a month in ammo, lol.

*edit*

Steam is fubar right now. Good thing, too. I'm considering buying it again lol.

Yeah the game is much easier now. Check out the picture I added to my previous post to see how cool it is lol. Experience gains have been doubled and leveling from level 1 is a piece of cake. With Abyssea parties you can earn upwards of 40,000 exp per hour and you only have to be level 30 to enter. Of course the monsters are level 80+ so you'd be leeching, but if you don't mind being gimp and worthless until you skillup it's the fastest way to level. If you don't want to do that they have a new dungeon book system that rewards you exp for killing a required number of mobs. It can be done solo or in a group and is a viable way to level. Basically 6 man exp parties don't exist anymore.

There's so many new things to learn that I can't even begin to describe them here. I had a friend in the same boat as you who used to play, but hadn't played since they revamped it. I started talking about Abyssea, weakness targeting, empyrean armor, and he had no idea what I was talking about lol. You should definitely check it out though, you won't be disappointed.

Everyone in this thread has already suggested the best MMO's to you. If you don't want to try FFXI then I think your best bet would be SWTOR. However, SWTOR is very similar to WoW. You said you didn't really like WoW so you probably won't like SWTOR. Maybe MMO's just aren't your thing?

That kinda kills it for me. The grouping system was my favorite part of the game with the weapon skill chains and such.

Anyway, sorry to hijack.

Well you still do 6 man groups for all the other activities in the game such as hunting NMs, Dynamis, Sea, Voidwatch, etc. They just made it so you don't have to do it to earn exp anymore since sitting around for hours seeking for a party was the chief complaint people had with FFXI.

Mmos are for nerds and losers, if you play mmo you are just wasting your life and paying $15/mo for the same game

...no...

Well back to informed people, WoW is the only pay per month game I'm aware of, GW 1 and 2 aren't (I still pvp in GW 1 a LOT) and SWTOR, I've heard nothing good about it.

When in extreme doubt cheap out and runescape XD

why are you on my thread (which is specifically about MMO's/MMORPG's) when you think that. Go and *** off to call of duty full price updates ( by which I mean they make you pay £40 / $50 - $60 for what is basically an update.) At least we can spend our hard earned money on good games that we can enjoy, with friends ( which is a something you obviously don't have) games like EVE online, give out updates/DLC for free, but at the end of the day it's the experience that counts, and in MMO's the experience is tenfold!

on a lighter note, I was thinking about GW1 but I heard it was poor? Is it really F2P (free to play) I mean as in, I don't have to pay for anything extra apart from the game and dlc? also any news on the GW2 release date? and I'll give the FF MMO a look! Is there a monthly fee? and if I get it will you help me level up?
