All similar to WoW, like WoW is similar to L2, EQ, UO, L1 ect ect

TERA is prolly the best MMO around right now.

Really? All the reports is that its sucking air in Korea... and its lead Developers jumped to a different MMO development

and Yes... WoW is like many games before it... I'd say its like an EQ... since that was my first MMO like this... Multiplayer Battle Tech was much different smile.gif

TERA is on the top 5 in SK, but L1/L2/Aion are still the BIG thing over there.

An not sure where you heard the dev team left, they just came out with a massive update O_o

i apologize ahead of time for slightly deviating the thread on a specific mmorpg, but to reply to the stuff people have been saying:
i agree completely i also rather play broken ff14 than the new ruined ff11, I still have no clue what made them create this obscure way to approach the game. Leveling was huge art of ff11 and they just crapped all over it.
And yes ff14 is improving a hell of a lot since beta testing and initial release but they still have a long way to go and a heavy "negative" stigma follows the game specially from their ex-ff1 customers.
My number one thing i hate about the game that have yet to be removed is the market wards( aka no auction house ) this is still a pain in the ass to work around with, also the "leves" this is another thing that killed it for me because it turned a party based genre to a questing clone of you know what lol. (WoW cloning)
Finally its the aspect that half the servers + more than half population extremely abused the hell out of power leveling which caused over 65% of population to reach cap within 1 full day or 2 tops. This is what actually made me finally give up on it for a longer time, getting level 50 was not that hard but now they made it into a joke. 1-30 in 2 hours 30-40 maybe 3-4 hours rinse and repeat, this is FF11 abyssea all over again.

Well their motivation behind changing FFXI was that they believed people would soon be leaving the game for FFXIV and they wanted to give people a brand new way of playing it. And honestly everyone who had been playing it for years had grown tired of the leveling system. Sure it was great, but it took forever. In the time I played FFXI pre-abyssea I managed to make three level 75 jobs and a handful of mid-level jobs. Post-abyssea I have nine level 99's and the rest of my jobs were 47. This completely opened the game up to allow players to try classes they never got to try before and proceed directly to end game. And the end game in abyssea is fun as hell. Let's face it, FFXI was never about making your character max level, it has and always will be about having the best gear. And abyssea provided that. With NM seal hunting, magian weapon trials, voidwatch, revamped dynamis, etc. the game's end-game had an entirely new appeal to it. Sure leveling was easy, but getting your character the best gear, which has always been the goal of FFXI, was just as hard as ever and equally rewarding.

I also agree with your criticisms of FFXIV. The market/retainer system is a complete joke and adds nothing that an auction house didn't already provide, it only further complicates the matter. However, they REFUSE to take it out. And yeah leves were boring. Sure you could team up with a buddy to beat the harder ones, but a full party was always overkill. I wanted them to provide the same six-man grouping experience that FFXI did, but like I said earlier they set out to make a different game. However, I wouldn't compare it to abyssea as that is considered endgame and FFXIV provides their boring/simple leveling system from the beginning. I had high hopes for FFXIV and I logged in every couple months to see how their patches were, but I've yet to login and be impressed. When FFXIV 2.0 releases I'll give the game one final chance and if it doesn't sway me I'm gone.

Been playing RIFT since launch. Love it; never seen an MMO with as aggressive launch schedule as RIFT has. Certainly worth picking up.

I hear rift gets boring, sw tor is an ea game, and story wise and gameplay wise it looks weak. I'm thinking WOW, EVE, or something else...

EA just published the game, BIoware developed it. And for the record SWTOR is heralded as having an immense enthralling storyline experience that few MMO's have delivered to this date. I would hardly call it weak. And the gameplay is pretty much just like WoW...

that just means he thinks that WoW's gameplay looks weak too.
