I am lost.

What are you talking about? The hyper-terminal? the Windows Console? A linuix Console? Where did you read about this command?

Give us something to work with.

I see that you private messaged me. I'll post my discussion here, so that others with the same problems can follow. Also, maybe others can chime in. This is gonna be a long post..

After doing some research, I realized that you have posted on many, many, many, forums trying to solve this problem. lol.

Here is what i know so far.

You have posted on these forums:
--> http://elabz.com/repairning-seagate-7200-11-drive-on-a-ubuntu-success-story/
--> http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=152456431478526
--> http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/155490-t8-and-tx/

I found a links of hardware commands here
--> http://elabz.com/forums/electronics-repairs/list-of-seagate-firmware-terminal-commands/
--> http://forum.hddguru.com/seagate-terminal-commands-t6411.html

Let me see if i understand your problem....i am building a picture of what happened from looking at what you posted and read on other forums...

1.) You have a seagate hard drive and it stopped working.

2.) You got error "Error 1009 DETSEC 00006008".

3.) You found this post "let's say we have a seagate with many bad sectors( to many for logical scan). how can we repair such a drive without self scan? i know that T8 command in terminal, format the drive butt the bad sectors found goes to alt list. anyone knows another command Tx or a combination of test to format the drive and hide the defects found to user track list(plist)?".

4.) Now you are trying to use the Tx or T8 command to interact with the firmware to repair bad sectors.

Here is what i need:

1.) I need you to tell me the story from the beginning. You just dropped a EXTREMELY complicated problem on my lap.

2.) Why can't you use standard recovery software? How important or sensitive is this data? If the data is extremely important, you can pay companies to professionally recover the data. What you are trying to do seems very risky

3.) Link me to every forum that you posted on regarding this problem. I need to gather all the information that i can.

4.) I'm a electronic engineer who designs and maintains embedded firmware, I do both hardware and software so i might be able to provide some help. I have a basic understanding of most embedded systems. (I recently graduated from college only 6 months ago, so I'm still relatively new at this). I am gong to need some time to do some reading and research to bring myself up to speed. Right now i am on lunch break at work, so I'll do more reading later today or tomorrow.

5.) If you have any special cables (I read something about you using a visiting card to disable motor contacts?) or anything like that you are using to program post information about them. Pictures and block diagram of anything you have already figured out would be nice. Again, i am trying to bring myself up to speed on exactly what is going on.

P.S. I assume you have some programming or engineering experience?

I'll work with you until you get your problem fixed. No need to post on another 30 forums, and hope someone answers. I have no experience with hard drives at this low level, but it's something i can figure out. :-)

My lunch break is over, so I'll do more reading and research later.

I read your PM. I will make my English easier to understand. I read your post on "eLA-BZ".

You have a error with the motor or the motor firmware.

I do not think the "T" commands will help you.

Did you clean the motor contacts?

Did you update the firmware?

If you do not understand, please tell me.

GOD BLESS YOU,

SIR

how i can update firmware of seagate ?

thanks
post #7 of 8
Use the Seagate website to update firmware. If you have any questions, i can help to explain the English.

Start here --> http://seagate.custkb.com/seagate/crm/selfservice/search.jsp?DocId=207931

Use the "download finder" tool.

Firmware update will sometimes fix a broken hard drive. Firmware update is easy to do.

Sir, did you know about this company? --> http://www.salvagedata.com/hard-drive-recovery/

This company can salvage data from your hard drive even if it has fire, water, electrical, physical, or mechanical damage. They can help you for enough money.
