Power supply turns on with paper clip but not comp? - Page 3

Could even be the actual power switch, though you said you turned your other PSU on without mention of the paperclip, so I don't know. It does sound like the PSU. I actually have a 600W ePower something rather that has been going for about 4-5 years now without issue.

Even low quality PSU's will work fine if you're only pulling 100-200W from it, and waste an enormous amount of power. I've tested one of my Okia PSU's and that piece of garbage was getting 59-65% efficiency....I think it's the PSU, and that buying a new one WOULD solve the problem. That thing has a -5V, so I bet it couldn't put out more than 350-400W if you're lucky and with your CPU, 3 HDD's, and SLI GTX 260's, it might just be more than the PSU can handle and that's why it won't even pass the POST. The chances of it being the PSU are pretty high. Sorry man, that's just how it looks....Blame the fact that PSU manufacturers can put whatever Wattage label they want on their PSU, even if it's off by hundreds of watts.
